Question about Lexmark X5150 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Above is the link to the driver for your printer. Cut and paste this address into the address bar in your internet browser and press enter. The main screen for Lexmark Driver downloads for your model will pop up. In the center of the screen you will see boxes asking you to select what operating system you are using. If you are using XP it will be in the windows box at the bottom of the list. If you are using something else choose accordingly. Once you have selected your operating system it will bring you to the download screen. Click the download button and then save the file. I suggest you save it to your desktop so you do not have to go looking for it after its done. You can save it wherever you want when you are done with it. I usually burn the file to a cd and label it Install files for Lexmark.
While the file is downloading make sure the close this window when download is complete checkbox does NOT have a check in it. The file is 27.79Mb and will take some time to download. This time depends on the speed of your connection. Dialup can be several hours. DSL will be about 20 minutes, and cable will be 2 minutes, I just checked it on my 8Mb Sec cable modem.
When the dowload completes click the run tab in the download dialogue box. Do not plug the printer in until the installation software tells you to. You do not want windows to detect the printer or it will install generic windows drivers for the printer and we do not want that.
At some point during the installation the software will ask you to plug in the printer and print a test page and if you followed these instructions carefully, you will be good to go.
I hope this helps you get your printer up and going. If so please take the time to rate this a fixya. If you need more help feel free to ask.
