There are a lot of different types of video files in the Internet nowadays. In order for you player to reproduce it, the correct codec must be installed in your computer to allow it to reproduce that type of file (a codec, short for coder/decoder, is like a driver program that informs to the computer all it needs to know to play that specific video fle).

Maybe you do not have the right codec installed in your computer. What kind of extension does this file have? .AVI? .MPG? .VOB? .WMV? .FLV? .MKV? No extension?

Without knowing the file extension, we can suggest you two different things:

1) Download and install the free VLC media player 1.1.7 from www.videolan.org - it is a good player that already contains most of the video codecs in its package, not needing to download separated codecs. You can even have a file without extension or with the wrong extension added to the file and the VLC will still identify the correct codec and play it.

2) You can download and install a package with various codecs, like K-Lite Codec Pack (from http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm) or XP Codec Pack (from http://www.xpcodecpack.com/).

Hope this info helps you!

Also check the file extension. It's the letters after the dot in the filename. Some videos downloaded with a firefox extension called DownThemAll will download a file called videoplayback, with no extension. Just find the file, and rename/add a video extension after it, like *.MP4,*.FLV,*.AVI etc

You should format you MicroSD card completely (copy all your ROMS and Saves from it first), then drop all the files from the website back on it, replace your ROMS and games, should be good to go.
Just make sure you've got the right software for the right card.

Window dvd makeroutput is avi, howcan i caonvet this format, every program that i have downladed totry to convert this, will not.

to convert the avi file to something else try this
http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
nch prism video converter
if you want to make a dvd from the avi file, use nch express burn
http://www.nch.com.au/burn/index.html
they are both free but be careful during the download/install process as you may end up with more than you intended. please read each page and untick anything that isn't prism video converter or express burn as they will try to dump loads of stuff into your download/install.

How to download video song

You can use any YouTube downlad software or browser add-on to download the file, but you will get an .flv or an mp4, dpeneding on how it was posted, you need to have also a player or a converter to re encode it to other formats.

I use Firefox Download Helper add-on (freeware) for download and OjoSoft Total Video converter (retail) or AllToAvi (open source) for format conversion, since I have most codecs already installed on my system.

Hi, there i have just downloaded a movie using utorrent client after downloading it , it shows unknown format error? what should i do could u plz help?..

Hi. I think you should make sure first that the video you're downloading is already finish before you open it with your media player or maybe because your media player doesnt support the file type that you have downloaded, try downloading this media VLC Player, it could play almost all media type of file, just search it into google or type VLC Player Download it will output some websites to dwonload this player, then install it use it to play the video file that you have finish downloading. Hope This Helps

Coby mp610 2g mtv unknown format

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know

Hi maoreen,

I feel that the .nth (Nokia THeme file) that you are trying to install is corrupt. And secondly generally all software that are pertaining to mobile phones have .sis extention so ther should be no confusion. Try downloading the file from a proper source/site and retry installing it. I feel it should work.
