Question about Nikon Coolpix S4000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Every time I try and upload pictures onto my computer using my Nikon s4000, the pictures are extremely distorted, but look completely fine on the camera itself. I use the chord that came with the camera to transfer them onto my computer. This is the second s4000 I've had, because the first one i purchased had the same exact problem. The only way that the pictures aren't distorted are when I upload them to my boyfriend's laptop by taking the memory card out of my camera and putting it in his laptop. My computer is a HP, and doesn't have a drive for a camera's memory card. How do I fix this problem so I can upload them onto my own computer?

This is a very odd problem, I have the same camera and it works fine, your best bet is to buy a usb SD memory card dongle. they are about 14 dollars, this will solve your problem with the photos, but I don't know why your camera won't work properly with the cable., have you tried it with the cable on your friends computer?

When I try to upload pictures onto my Apple, my camera flashes with red and green lights and says BATTERY TEMPERATURE HIGH and won't upload.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

HD videos won't upload to computer?

How are you trying the upload? Is your camera connected via USB or are you using a card reader? What program(s) are you using?
You should be able to do the upload by using a card reader and the operating system's file explorer to copy the file.

When i connect my camera to the computer instead of a screen coming up saying to upload , it just charges , what do i do ??

If you've installed the software that came with your camera, you should be able to find "Nikon Transfer" in the Start menu. Try running that program.

Better yet, consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

My camera takes pictures fine, but when I go to record a video it says it can't read the S.D card.

hi,

there are two memories on your camera. there is an on-board memory and then the memory card.
usually the on-board memory is usually small and its completely possible that you have being taking all your pictures onto the on-board memory which is not large.

because video files are usually large, it may not be possible to record your videos onto the on-board memory.

here are some tips for you.

to confirm if you have being using on-board memory for your pictures, you should remove the memory card then take pictures with the camera. if you can stiil access all your pictures then you have being using the on=board memory.

the memory card could also might have not being well inserted, so insert properly and use.
its also possible the memory card might be corrupt so scan for viruses.
or it may need formating.

N.B. before formatting please back up your data.
