Hello i have a lightscribe asus drw-2014L 1T disc drive it will not burn onto lightscribe discs but ok on normal printable & dvd-rw discs can u help me with the problem

The LightScribe feature of DVD burners with this capability requires that you are using burner software that has this function. Verify that the software you are using is lightscribe compatible. The software that comes with this drive(Nero) should be lightscribe compatible. After you burn the disc you do need to fip the disc over and the re-insert into the drive so that a label can be etched into the disc. The lightscribe discs look identical on both sides so only one side you can burn info and the other side is for the label so make sure that it is inserted on the right side for each process. If you put the disc in on the wrong side the initial data burn will not work. Also sometimes burners will have issues with certain brands of discs so you may also want to try a different brand and see if that helps. And another thing that you can try is updating the drive to the latest firmware. The firmware is to the drive kind of like what Windows is to your PC. Sometimes updating this file will fix problems like this. Here is a link to the firmware of your model. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

You can download the file and run it to update your firmware. Caution: Before running the firmware make sure it is the correct file for your drive! There are a couple of variations to your model number and this one might not be the correct one. If you install the wrong file you could damage your drive inoperable or defeat some of it's features. I hope this information is of help with your problem and thanks for using FixYa.

I got a ASUS DRW-2014L1T CD-RW and have no driver can anyone tell me pls where i can download a driver or post the link, would be very thankfull ( [email protected] for contacting me )

Here is the link for the ASUS downloads.

Choose Optical storage then DVD RW then your model number

The DRW-2014L1T is a DVD-RW and the drivers are incorporated with windows drivers. Are you looking for the burning software, like Nero or Roxio? Or is the unit not working at all?

My email is [email protected].

Does not read dvd

According to Asus there are many burned dvd formats that are not supported or simply do not work in this drive. Asus stated that most dvd-r should work but not all, and that is the only burned dvd media that works. You may want to look into buying a different drive.

ASUS DVD RW model DRW-1814BL

try reinstalling your operating system ( try format your cd or just repair it). The system will automatically detect the driver for your drive but if it was not listed in the bios try checking the cables attached to your drive.. or still if not.. the drive may be damaged.
