Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I recently bought a Leica Dlux. It arrived well packaged and had not been damaged in transit. I noticed 4 screws missing around the body and on switching on a "system error" sign displayed. I recharged battery and after a while it operated normaly and I got my first shots. However on switching off the lens cover would open and close 4 times before finally closing! I had the scrws replaced and now find "system error" back and the battery will not eject. I am not sure if I should remove screws again as at least it worked then. Help please!

It has arrived with broken wing May I try to stick it and use for garden and return later for replacement? Bought from Prime arrived late and badly packaged large box but dragon in corner?

This page is not the page to make this enquiry
if you do anything to it or keep it, you accept any damage and will negate any claim for warranty or replacement
Take photos of packaging and of the broken item and inform the supplier immediately that it arrived badly packed and damaged and that you want a replacement sent immediately or a refund of the money for the item
the supplier has insurance against damage in transit so thee will be no legal objection for what you want

Without more information or photos it's pretty much impossible to even guess. But, it could be anything between a Leica and a Leica III, produced anywhere between 1925 and 1954. Only features and model-specific numbers engraved on the camera would tell the full story - serial numbers don't give much information to anybody but the factory.

Looking for a lens adaptor to allow 39mm screw lens to fit an M2 camera body

You just need a Leica M to Leica screw adapter. Note that this will be different to the adapter you need if you want to use non-Leica 39mm screw thread lenses as the thread pitch is different.

There are various suppliers but you can find the information you need here and here. The links are for convenience only and not a personal recommendation of any supplier.

Hope this helps, if not then please add a comment and I'll offer further assistance. Otherwise please take a moment to rate my answer.

Violent spin cycle on the Frigidare front-loading washer

I assume you bought it new, so on that basis, did you remove the transit packing materials inside the machine ?

Front loading washing machine normal design is for the drum assembly to be supported by two or more springs at the top, and two dampers at the bottom. This allows the drum to move in a controlled fashion and also minimises vibration, particularly during spinning.
When the machines are shipped from the factory, transit packaging is put inside the machine to ensure that any shocks to the machine during transit dont damage the springs or dampers. This must be removed before use otherwise you get pretty much the symptoms you describe.

The manual that cam with it will show you how to remove the transit packaging. In such a short time I suspect you wont have suffered any damage, but take the transit packaging out as soon as possible.

How to adjust a David White transit level

I just assisted a friend "re-calibrate" his D.W. L6-20 Level Transit. Follow the following steps.
1. Set up the tripod & transit in the garage. Get the platform with the protractor, close to level.
2. Position the telescope at "0". The telescope should be over 2 of the adjusting screws.
3. Adjust the screws to get the top bubble close to level. Adjust with a screwdriver the spring loaded screw to get the bubble closer to center.
4. Rotate the scope 180 degrees. Note the difference in the bubble position. Split the difference from the first bubble location by adjusting the same top screw.
5. Rotate back to 0. Adjust the same top screw to split the difference in bubble position.
6. Rotate back to 180 degrees. The bubble should be off by the same amount. Adjust the 2 bottom screw to place the level in the center.
7. Rotate back to 0. The bubble should not move.
8. Rotate to 90 degrees and adjust the 2 bottom screws to place the bubble in the center.
9. Rotate to 270 degrees. The bubble should be centered.
10. From this point on, all you need to do is place the level on the tripod and position it over your reference point with a plumb bob. Adjust the bottom 2 screws at 0 and again at 90. The level is set to use.

LSR8233JQ washer water drips into tub from fill port

Yes the fill valve has been damaged by the silt. If you remove the hoses from the valve you will probably notice that there is either one or both steel screens missing from valve body. You cant remove the screens if they get clogged.
