1 Answer

I have the Philips 55PL9223 Projection TV. The TV is turning itself off intermittently. Checked airflow filters and dusted internal components. Red light comes on after a few minutes of play and TV then simply powers off. There are no blinking indicators during power off. Can restart TV, but will power off again after a few minutes.......Please help!!!!

How best connect external DVD to TV: Composite or Component? Both available on both units

If the TV does have a component input, that will be your best choice. Component video provides an HD signal; composite is only an SD (480i) signal. However, if the TV doesn't have 3 RCA ports (red, green and blue) for the video itself, in addition to the red/white RCA audio ports, you may be missing an adapter that allows the port to be used properly. You'll need to set the TV to the external video input with a Source or Input button on the TV or the remote. If you press the DVD button on the remote, the TV will only attempt to get the signal from the internal DVD.

Please add a comment with the make and model of your TV for additional information. A number of TVs (like some LG models) share the composite and component inputs and use an adapter to reduce the input to a smaller area on the TV. Without the adapter, the TV can't correctly identify the signal. The component video adapter for my LG TV looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/LG-OEM-Original-Part-EAD61273107/dp/B00C5HXILE . There's a second one for the audio signal.)

I hope this helps.

Poer supply is the cause of the shutdown and would need to be replaced. These cost around $150 bucks just in parts the labor you would need to find someone that knows just what there doing or you could wind up into the hundreds, Thanks

Projection T.V.

It is called Ethylene Glycol (PTV Coolant is what you ask for) . I don't believe radio shack has it, you can try, however, all Electronics Parts Suppliers will have it. If your going to do all three tubes then get 3 - 16oz bottles.

MY TV POWERS IT SELF OFF AND ON

Seems to be a possible heat problem, are all fans working and clean, is the tv surrounded by objects that could be blocking airflow or excessive dust, or smoke can damage alot of internal componants. Check all inlets and turn volume down to hear if fans are operating. May be something besides, but I would check the heat issue first.

Panasonic pt 50dl45 shuts off buy itself

You probably have a lot of dust inside.
Open the back panel and vacuum.
Also use compressed air to blow into the components. Do not blow into the fan on the right as it will get the dust inside the lamp housing.
