Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

We are producing a newsletter using a 6800 A3 printer. If we try to use anything other an 80 gms paper the printer picks up 3-6 sheets of paper in one go. As we are printing double sided we are losing a lot of sheets to say nothing about the time taken. Please can you advise.

Your printer needs maintenance.
Your description is that of a worn or dirty separation pad.

HI MY DESKJET 9800 WILLNOT FEED A3, IT JAMS ON THE LEFTHAND SIDE EVERY TIME, I HAVE LOOKED TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS OBSTRUCTING DUE TO BEING IN STORAGE FOR A WHILE. A4 FEEDS CORRECTLY, BUT CANNOT FIGURE OUT...

If A4 is ok but A3 jams then I would have to say there IS something hitting the paper. Try another A3 sheet and when it jams, pull the paper back out (after the printer is switched off) very slowly. When its out take a look at the leading edge and you will see a kink in the edge of the paper. Now place the paper back in the input tray and look at where the kink is in relation to the machine. That will tell you exactly where the obstruction is.

I hope you understand what i am trying to say.

A3 paper jams up as it exists the fusser unit. This usually only happens after printing off three sheets. A4 paper works fine. Paper weight is 80 grams on A3 and A4 and the fusser is set to normal...

chances are the pickup rollers are worn and in need of replacement, these are located just above the tray inside the printer and are both easy to remove and widely available

Can't print A3

Does your program allow for custom size? If so enter 297 and 420mm if in metric
The printer dialogue box may need to be advised of this size also
