Re: number keys not working
You can try to reinstall them if the little white latch is still in place and broken
put the key right over where it goes make sure it is spaced and straight and push straight down you should feel a slight click and it will stay if the clips are broken you can order a new key board pretty cheap

You should still be able to use the current key. Try adding the key in Control Panel > System. You can even try loading Windows on to itself. Not a clean install. You can even remove the hard drive and use it as a second drive or connect it via USB. gl
Sounds like a failed keyboard. They're simple to replace and parts can be ordered by laptop model number from HP, eBay or from one of the many used laptop parts places online. Expect to pay around $30-50.
Since this is a new laptop, there is one year warrantee on this laptop. This means that Hp will repair the laptop free. Just try and locate an HP sevrvice center near you and sent in the Laptop for warrantee repairs. The warrantee may be void if you start working on it by yourself.
Try hooking up and external key board see if that works ok, and if it does you may want to try to find a new or used key board for your laptop. The key board may be shot, It should be fairly easy to change to a new board, Hopefully That will help you diag. the problem..
