Blades engaging is purely mechanical nothing to do with battery. Check correct routing of belts around pulleys.

I have a 52" Husqvarna LGT 2654 riding lawn mower and when I engage the blades, the belt does not turn the pulley system. What could be causing this, the pulley idlers, or the belt?

depending on the age of the machine, there could be several possibilities
1-- belts are not tight enough--- belt tension system is not correct, wrong length belts
2--bearings for the shafts for the blades are rusted up and seized - preventing the blades from moving--- switch the machine off , disengage the belt drive and see if you can turn the blades by hand
3--- if you have an electric pto system to drive the belts to the blades then that system is not getting full power to engage the PTO or the clutch is not working--worn facings
take it to a service dealer and have a proper diagnosis done

Why don't the blades engage?

Blades Engage via a pully system. Once you move the lever to engage the blades, the belt tightens and the blades engage. It is possible that your belt is broken or has gone out of track with the pulleys. If you know the belt is ok, then it is probably a bearing in one of the blade mounts.

Why won't the blades engage on my Ariens 911403

Chances are the deck drive belt has been knocked off one of the pulleys or the drive clutch won't engage properly. With the spark plug wire removed, rotate the blades by hand and make sure they both move together. This verifies the blade linking belt is OK. Now engage the blade operating control and feel for resistance as you rotate the blades. If you feel no change in resistance, remove the belt cover and reinstall the drive belt over the pulleys and tensioner/clutch mechanism.

My blades will not engage. Just stopped while mowing. Model 917.273130. Seat operator present switch seems ok. Belt and pullies look ok. Blades not obstructed. Tractor starts and runs ok.

Check for a broken belt, then the cable and linkages and the pulleys on the deck. Sometimes the two smaller pulleys on the deck break. It should be evident when you put your hand on it and try to turn it.

Replaced belt for mower thought i put it all back correctly blades engage when key is turned engage lever to off what did i do wrong

If you look at the motor pulley area, there should be two different pulleys with a PTO clutch between them. The PTO clutch has wires going to it, because it is operated electrically by the blade engage switch.
It sounds like you could have accidentally put the mower deck belt onto the main drive pulley (which turns all the time) rather than the pulley that is farther out from the engine, which only turns when the engage the blade switch. If so, just loosen the mower belt and move it to the right pulley.
Good luck!

Snapper Zero Turn mower. Blade will not engage. Any suggestions?

I am not sure what type of blade engagement mechanism you have (ex. clutch, tensioner/idler pulley, etc...) but make sure that the blades can spin freely with the belt taken off of their pulleys. It could very well be that one of the pulley bearings is seized.

CRAFTSMAN Tractor Model%23 917257643 adjust idler pulley. I have the above lawn tractor. One day the mower belt shredded. I got another one and when I engage the mower it starts to shred. I think I need to...

First things first! Before you installed the new belt, did you check the blades and idler pulleys to see if they all turned freely with no resistance while the belt was off and the blade brakes released? Release the blade brakes by engaging the handle with the engine off!
When you installed the new belt, did you put the back side of the belt against the flat pulleys and the inside of the belt in the V-pulleys? Did you double check to make sure you didn't inadvertently miss a belt guide getting the belt on the outside of it instead of underneath it. Did you look at the picture in your owners manual to make sure you had it routed correctly and make sure it is not rubbing against anything when you have the blade lever engaged? CHECK THIS WITH THE ENGINE OFF If you don't have your owners manual, look under the foot boards on the tractor, many of the Sears tractors have the routing diagrams there. If it is not there you can go to searspartsdirect.com , enter model number 917.257644 (NOTE the number difference) and look at the picture of the deck, it shows what the belt should look like when it is installed. You can also download an owners manual there. As best as I can remember, there is no adjustment for the idler pulleys.

What ingages blades ,blades not engage

On most riding mowers flipping the handle to engage the blade causes an idler pulley to engage the drive belt, which takes up the slack in the belt and pulls it against the drive pulleys. A few odd-balls have an electric clutch to engage the blades.
