I hate HP. I had this BI 2800 working fine, and now the duplexer is just AWOL. Oh, it's there, and the printer knows it, but it doesn't use it when I select the duplex option. I can't get it to do anything. All I can figure is that when I installed the driver for the OJ-Pro 7780 (I wanted to look at the feature set before I bought the unit) it must have fouled something up. I have rebooted PC and printer several times, and reloaded the 2800 driver anew. Still no joy.
Re: HP Business Inkjet 2800 used to duplex, now won't
There might a conflict.. install OJ pro k 850.. this is the best alternate driver for 2800 printer wit all the features..
If u are on XP.. dowload from HP Website.
n if u have Vista.. thats an inbuilt driver.. just add it through add printer wizard.. and check what it does..

There are several thing which may cause unexpected jams in the duplex tray..., 1. first thing to do is eliminate all other possibilities by removing the netCard/Net connection Parralel connection so the machine is Stand Alone. make sure there is paper in the feed cassette 2 ( paper Tray) press the TICK to enter menu scroll down to diagnostic- press TICK scroll down to paper path test - press Tick scroll down to Source and select tray 2 scroll down to Duplex And select YES ( if the duplex option is not visible here then there is a connection/seating problem with the duplex tray) Scroll down to copies and select 10 scroll up to print test page and press tick the machine should now start duplexing 10 pages, if you get the same error ( 1 page enters then jams) it could be a dirty/snapped paper entry sensor,( looks like a little plastic match stick that protrudes into the feed path of the paper) use a can of pressurised air to Blast any dust away from this arm and the surrounding area being careful to follow the Paper sensor Arm back to the sensor and blasting this as well- Duplexer tray are cheaper than an engineer call out, if the fix above fails , your cheapest option may be a replacement Duplexer tray, available from most HP office equipment Stores as well as Belmonte Business Equipment.
Many people had a similar problem with the Color Inkjet cp1700 B-size printer.

Another solution that worked for some people was installing the hp deskjet 9800 printer driver.
It appears what you need is a patched .gpd file for the BI 2800. Try emailing Bob Headrick, who has done these patches. (Thanks Bob)!
Be sure to put Vista and Large Format Printing 11x17 in the subject line.

You'd think between HP and MS, they'd have this working right out of the box.
Did they think people would buy a B-size printer so they could hook it
up to Vista and then not want to print mainly B-size documents?
They would have had happier customers if they would have included B-size support but left out A-size!

I told my brother once to ask HP support about a problem for his laptop, and they proceeded to instruct him how to make the problem worse and royally screw up stuff that was completely unrelated to his problem.
waited a day - reset the printer - disconnected power source and waited a minute or 2 plugged it back in and it seems to be fine (tho still jamming on 2-sided printing) but works fine as a non-duplexing printer.
The default in Vista seems to be the duplexer is not installed. You will need to tell the driver the duplexer is present. This would be found in the (control panel)printers folder, doubleclick on the 1200d, printer, properties, device settings, installable options, then select "installed" for Duplex Unit.
In Vista the default s the duplexer is "not installed". Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Printers, double-click on the Deskjet, Printers, Properties, Device Settings and set the duplexer to "Installed".
If the duplexer prints the back side upside down in Vista once it is enabled you can get a patch as described here.
