We have a saniflo. We were out, and our babysitter (who isn't familiar with saniflos) was in the bathroom and suddenly she said water was flooding out of the toilet - she said she had heard a loud noise that went on for ages, and when it stopped, water stopped flooding out. We got home and cleared 5 buckets of water from the bathroom floor. I looked at the saniflo and it was dry and looked ok from the outside. Later, when cleaning, I found an apple core, half chewed up, sitting in the pan. I'm pretty sure this would have blocked it and caused the flood, and in fact, we got loads of towels ready and flushed, and there was no leak. Does it sound like this is probably the cause and we should be ok now? (babysitter went AWOL so we can't ask her if she flushed the apple core!)

If the apple core was right at the pump intake at the time the pump kicked on it very well may have been the problem. The pumps in those units are not the strongest in the world anyway. They are not made to grind up anything that has any bulk to it.

So the answer to the question in my opinion is yes. But you well want to keep a close eye on it for a while.

may need a backflow preventer in the waste line under the sink..it is basically a ball on a spring..designed to make the water go only one way..I am guessing the wasteline was opened up with a plumbing snake..that pump may have too much backpressure from the head line..

We had that problem but the unit was built in and I could not get at it, the outlet pipe sounds like it is blocked, I cleared mine by connecting a pipe from the cold tap to the outlet pipe and flushing.
