TV is connected to laptop via HDMI cable. PC recognizes TV but TV says No Signal...what is wrong? TV input is set to PC.

On most TVs, the PC input is the VGA port. Try setting the TV input to HDMI, assuming an HDMI to HDMI cable is in use. You may need to turn off both the TV and the laptop. Then turn on the TV before turning on the laptop. After the laptop is running, you may need to adjust the display settings to send the data to the TV. (For energy conservation, the laptop may not send data to external ports.) On most versions of Windows, you can find a quick Display Settings link by right clicking on the desktop somewhere without icons or running programs. Otherwise, look in the Control Panel (Windows 8 and earlier) or in Settings (Windows 10). (There are similar steps for Mac OSX and Chrome OS.)

I hope this helps.

(Note: using an HDMI to VGA cable is not generally useful. Those can work for some projectors. For a PC to TV, you'd need an HDMI to VGA (digital to analog video) converter.)

I have connected my laptop to my element tv via vga cord;sound is comin frm laptop..want the sound frm TV; THEN, I have a headset/microphone ... can I connect my headset/microphone to the TV?

If you need to get sound from your TV, you should have a sound input socket in your TV. If you have that you can connect an audio cable from your sound sound socket to your TV.
The second option is that your laptop and your TV should have HDMI ports. If its there, you can use an HDMI cable(instead of VGA cable)to connect the two. With HDMI cable, you will get both video and audio through that single cable.

What type of cable do I get to connect presario 900 laptop to TV?the

Hi,

You can use either an HDMI cable or a VGA cable to connect your computer to your TV. Your computer has both HDMI and VGA ports. You can use either ports but you cannot use both or else your video card will crash.

Thank you for visiting FixYa! have a nice day!

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Medallion TV. The only input for HD is DTV (no DVI or HDMI inputs). Is there a converter box from HDMI to DTV that will allow for 1080i resolution?

From looking at the back panel of the TV, the DTV input can be configured as a component video. The M-Link/DVI-HD port is also a DVI with HDCP port and maximum signal handled is 1080i. The M-Link should work with an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. For this to work, the source must not be a computer or another device using the default computer video output (computers give RGB output). The DTV port would need an HDMI to Component video converter. See this page for some examples: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdtocoad.html . The first one in the list (for Netflix and Boxee among others) will give 1080i out if the source is set correctly.

Most DVI-HDMI cables are single link. I've seen some examples where DVI-I (single link) and DVI-D (dual link) cables are not interchangeable. If you have video problems, check your cable. An HDMI to DVI adapters will let you run an HDMI cable up to the TV and then converter at the TV as a separate connection.

I hope this helps.

I TRIED TO CONNECT MY LAPTOP TO AN HD TV VIA THE HDMI PORT

Most probably it will be enough to press Fn + F5 to change the display output. Pressing this combination sequentially toggles between 3 settings usually:
Internal LCD
External output
LCD and external simultaneously.

The external-only option is the best, as it will give you an option to set a screen resolution suitable/optimum for your TV, as oposed to the resolution of your internal LCD display, which is optimum for your display, but doesn't use the full capabilities of your TV.

Good luck, and please come back with a testimonial/rating if helped.

How to conect my laptop to LCD

It depends on the laptop connections. First make sure that your computer is sending data to the port (particularly VGA); you may have to access the BIOS to change the setting (often F1 or F2 on restart). If you have a VGA port on the laptop, get a video cable (VGA-VGA) and connect the two together (this is usually a blue port and you need M/M ends). Then enable in the graphics properties (right click on the display where there are no icons or running program). You want the section that lets you choose sending to the external monitor, the laptop monitor or showing the same contents on both. The version of your OS may alter which command you need (you can also access this in the Control Panel (Display). You may need to restart the computer with the TV on to get the computer to recognize the TV. Set the TV to have the source the PC input. Also connect the speaker cable from the laptop to the TV if you want to use the TV's speakers (there is an audio port next to the VGA port that I believe is a 3.5 mm jack (would need a stereo 3.5 mm m/m cable between the two). Make sure you select the optimum resolution of 1360 x 768.

If you have an HDMI port on the laptop (newer laptops), get an HDMI cable (m/m) and connect the two. Set the TV to DVI or HDMI source (depending on if you need the audio cables separate) and reboot the computer. Then enable the display, as above. I believe you still need the audio cable as well (should use a 3.5 mm stereo to RCA R/L (red/white) cable) look for the DVI audio next to the HDMI/DVI port.

I hope this helps.

(my understanding is that computer HDMI ports do not send the audio but you should check your laptop manual.)

The above interfaces are in your laptop. There is no S-cable or HDMI interface.
If your TV have VGA port you can connect your TV to the VGA port in laptop. This will alow you to convert the TV as monitor.

Need help hooking up TV, BluRay, Home Theatre & cable box

I found that since the Panasonic TH50PZ80U TV has only 2 HDMI ports on the back of the TV, the best solution for me was to use component (red, blue, green) cables to connect the Home Theatre to the TV. I suppose I/you could connect the home theatre to the HDMI port on the front panel, but I don't want cables hanging out the front of the TV (personal preference). Unfortunately, I am no longer able to use the VIERA Link functionality available by connecting all Panasonic components to each other using HDMI cables, but I feel it's a small price to pay for the incredible picture quality acheived by using the HDMI cable to connect the HD Cable Box to the TV. I may yet be able to control everything using the HD Cable Box remote, but I haven't gotten that far yet but I've got Comcast coming on Saturday and hopefully they can let me know if this is possible: let me know if you have a solution.

So here are the components and the cable types used to connect:
  1. HD Cable Box to TV: HDMI cable & Optical Audio cable
  2. Home Theatre to TV: Red, Blue & Green component cables
  3. BluRay Player to TV: HDMI cable
I hope this helps someone else.
