Best way to hook up Bose 901 series VI to a Harman Kardon HK3490

According to the HK site, "Stereo pre-amp outputs let you connect the receiver to an external power amplifier." So it's easy. Connect the Bose equalizer in the pre-out / amp in loop.

Not outputting to all speakers from CD, but does from DVD

Hi,.

With the indulgence of the others...
dfadfab.jpg
If I understand your problem right:
1. CD works only in Speaker A (but not in Speaker B);
2. DVD works on either or both A/B;
3. CD will work if plug into to VCR input but selector must be of another source (not VCR).

A couple of suggestions:
a. pls try doing again the reset as ginko has suggested but make it a bit longer, i.e. unplug it from the mains for a couple of hours;
b. since you have remove most of the wiring, why dont you try switch A & B. make the family room speakers the B while the speaker selector the A;
c. hook the CD (only) using the RCA cables (red/white) nothing else;
d. play any CD music and go through the paces of selecting source, speakers, surround/hall/theater/etc as troylove11 has suggested.

This would be now a simple setup, 1 source (CD) to 1 output/speaker (the family room) via the Denon. Try different settings. If the CD plays normally then, without changing any setting nor powering it off (but with volume level all the way down), remove the family room speaker wiring and replace it with the wires to/from the speaker selector.

the idea is to determine which is the real issue, the Sony, the Denon settings/hardware or the speaker selector.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

No sound

A few simple things to check:

Speakers in set menu are not switched to off or to external speakers.

With a Dvd etc connected to one of the rear inputs doe it have sound?

If another box of any type in line disconnect power, wait and reconnect the power to each for a boot up to happen including the set.

Let me know what you find and a brand/model number would help.

I have a Harmon Kardon HK3490 receiver which has an input for a powered subwoofer. Next to the subwoofer output is a "link switch" which turns on the subwoofer when I turn on the stereo. What...

Connect the Subwoofer Trigger Output for each subwoofer to thecorresponding trigger input on its amplifier. This enables the subwoofer toturn on or off together with the HK 3490. To further conserve energy,when the trigger connection is made, turn the Subwoofer Link Switch onto turn the subwoofer off when the corresponding pair of main speakersare not being used, such as during muting, when headphones are beingused, or when the main speakers are turned off using the Speaker 1/2 switch

I have a brand new logic soundlab tx1002. it was hooked to a brand new radio and new speakers. When turned on, it is in protection mode. you get a popping sound from the speakers. we have checked all...

first disconnect one wire at a time, making sure the power is off. then connect power and check to see if your speakers are making the popping sound. when you do your speakers, make sure you disconnect both positive and negitive of each speaker at one time. when your amp goes out of protect mode you will have found your suspect wire. then trace to the issue. it could be as simple as crossed over possitive and negitive wires
cheers

I want to connect YST-Sw1500 sub woofer to the AX-596 amplifier .How can I do the connections .

on ur subwoofer u will see HPF output, connect this output to MAIN IN of ur power amp (first remove jumper between pre-out and main in from ur power amp) connect pre-out of ur power amp to input 2 L&R (Left is also for mono input). the HFP selector switch will cut off 80Hz or 100Hz to the main input depending on the position enabling u to have high frequency sound on your main speakers. connect the speakers to the main output terminal of ur power amp. do not connect speakers on the woofer ouput.
make sure u are using the right impedance speakers. do not switch speaker impedance selector while the unit is on.

I am trying to power outside speakers (2 pairs of 8ohm) off a brand new Harman Kardon 2 channel receiver (HK3490). I was having problems with other receivers getting hot and believed it was happening...

By-pass the external Volume control. It may not be "impedance matching" or it may have an internal issue. If it's located outside, it's probably corroded and creating a load on the receiver causing it to shut down. If you still have an issue beyond this , post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further. Hope this helps

I have a relatively new (less than 3 months old) Harmon Kardon Receiver HK3490. It turns on but immediately turns off. You can hear a clicking sound like a breaker is disengaging. The problem started...

It is a relay clicking. You will need to obtain a schematic to troubleshoot this but they are available online. The protection circuits have been degraded from the short circuit but it is still alive and the discrete components are easy to replace. I used to use Sam's Fotofax but googling your HK model will get you alot of results. Harmon Kardon is a great brand and definitely worth fixing. ~Steve Medley

Bose amplifier does not work with a 6 speaker selector

your wall speakers may not be connected.... disconnect each speaker from the selector box and test with a small AAA battery to see if they are connected by putting the battery between each speaker's wires , you will hear it crackle ,then gradually connect each wall speaker onto the speaker connector box . If the first set does not work i suggest there may be a problem with your speaker selector box . Good luck
