Please be careful when converting appliances form natural gas to propane. Depending on the equipment there are several changes that need to be made. You will at least have to change burner orifices and convert or replace the gas valve. Some gas valves are not convertible. What many people over look are changing the pilot orifice and on some appliances like braising pans, griddles and char broilers there is a runner tube orifice. The gas valve also needs to be adjusted to the proper manifold pressure and pilot adjustments will be required. I recommend on Vulcan equipment that you contact Hobart Service since they are factory trained on all Vulcan cooking equipment.

Oh I forgot to mention that I extensive experience with the Vulcan VSX5G steamer. Early units the natural and propane used the same burner system. Due to excessive sooting the propane conversion requires different burners.

I meant to say VSX10GC but the VSX5, VSX7GC, and the VSX10GC all use the same burner system. You will also have to let the parts supplier know if you have hot surface or direct spark igntion.

How do I know if my Caloric Heritage gas range is propane or natural gas? It is a used stove that was given to us

Stoves are usually sent from the factory set for natural gas. they have to be converted to Propane. If it is set for propane the flame will be very low on natural gas. If set for natural gas on propane the flame will be very large. The orifices for natural gas are much larger than propane orifices. and the regulator is converted acordingly.

Natural gas to propane

changing from natural to propane requires different jet sizes and repositioning of the air mixture shrouds
working with gas is not in the domain of diy as you have found out so get in a gas fitter to do the conversion properly with out risk of an explosion or fire

Is there a way to convert a kozy world KWN313 heater to propane?

Your model is not listed at http://www.kozyheat.com/.

If this is currently a natural gas fitted device, there is a better than not chance it can be converted.

Please check with the manufacturer or dealer where you purchased the device. You can also contact your local propane supplier who would do the actual converting of the orifices.

A note: If this device is presently set up for natural gas and is hooked up, and you still have natural gas available, this is normally the cheaper of the two fuels to use.

Thanks for your quesiton at FixYa.com

CONVERT FROM NATURAL GAS TO PROPANE GAS

Pat, it is very important that all appliances that used natural are guaranteed to be LP Gas approved. Fact is natural gas uses about 1/4 oz. psi where Lp Gas uses 8lbs. to 13psi
This is critical that the person doing the work has experience in converting the two types to prevent fire or property damage. I hope I helped answer your question, let me know if this works out for you. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Tappan Range Model TGF351ESJ Nat. Gas to Propane

Yes you can convert the range

2. Provide an adequate gas supply.
This unit is pre-set to operate on 4" natural gas manifold
pressure. Aconvertible pressure regulator is connected to the
manifold and MUST be connected inseries with the gas supply
line. If the LP/Propane conversion kit has been used, follow
instructions provided with the kit for converting the pressure
regulator to LP/Propane use. The LP kit can be found on the
back side of the range (some models).

I yours does not have the kit on back go to sears to get one.

Good Luck
