SOURCE: Kerosene forced-air heater won't start

remove the top of the heater - move the fan & motor backwards and remove the ignitor - if the element is fizzled go to www dot desatech dot com. you can get new hot surface ignitors from here. they also have spark ignition systems if yours has this.

SOURCE: Reddy heater 110,000 btu forced air portable kerosene

try this, take off the top cover. plug in the heater and when the humming starts, rotate the fan sharply with a screwdriver. keep your fingers away from the fan. if the fan spins under power your start winding is shot. get a new motor. www dot desatech dot com

What does the service symbol 1F referring to? The gas is on, but the heater does not ignite. After a few minutes, the symbol 1F appears on the screen.

It means Ignition Failure. They heater went thru its startup cycle, and when the gas valve opened, the heater did not sense a flame. The whole routine begins again. After about 3 attempts at this, the heater will flash IF and then go into a lockout situation. This is a safety feature of this heater.
