Question about Acronis True Image Home 2011

Email backup just sits there. Nothing happens. Try to cancel and it won't. Can't kill it with Task Manager either. Have to use other software to kill it.

    I tried that even though it runs the same on my laptop. I have a Dell XPS desktop and a Toshiba Satellite both running Win7 Home Premium 64bit. Both are fully updated minus SP1. TI acts like it is running. I press cancel and it asks me if I want to cancel and I press yes, but nothing else changes. I can close TI, but it still keeps its hold on WL Mail so that I can't run it until I use Process Explorer to kill everything named TrueImage.

My first suggestion is to uninstall / reinstall. If this is Vista.... Try running the install several times. I have seen cases where it does not report an error but does not completely install and running the install a couple of times helps.

    Acronis says it supports both 32 and 64 bit systems so ... OS version should not be an issue.

    Email Backup does not work on either computer. Other things seem to work. I did a system backup on this one last night. It took over 4 hours though. I created boot media today and tested it. It seemed to work although populating the drive list as per the top of page 130 in the manual took forever. I've been reading the manual and trying different things with it all day to follow along with the manual. Only the Email Backup seems to fail and holds my WLM locked.

    I just happened to think, I have nearly 14K messages in just one of my email accounts. Ok, I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my email. You don't think the size of an email backup would cause this? Do you?

    It could and on the issue of hoarding.... I have hundreds of megabytes of email so...... that is not that much. Where is your email stored? The answer to that will relate to your email client and connection type. If you use a web client (MSN, Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, etc) your email is stored on the providers server and backup is done by them. If you use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc, then it depends on your connection type.

    Most computer based clients use POP. POP downloads your email and stores them on your computer. In addition, both Outlook and Outlook express have a tendency to self-corrupt and backup is important. The advantage of POP is with the mail stored on your computer you can read the mail even without an Internet connection.

    The other type of connection is IMAP. IMAP is similar to web based client in that the mail is stored on the providers server. The advantage of this is you can check your mail from several clients without sync problems since the mail is stored on the server.

    If you are using a client that stores the mail on the server, then that can be the problem. It is having to download the mail and store it somewhere and it may not be good at that especially for a web based mail.

    See it this helps and if not, post the type of email system you are using and I will do research specific to that type. If it is web based, include the providers name. I do not need your email address just the providers name so I can experiment with their servers.

    I have "Windows Live Mail", (Win7 replacement for Outlook Express), Gmail, Mindspring, and GMX and provider nwi.net. However, I have them all configured for POP3 and are stored on my pc. I'm not thinking my trouble is a result of content, but rather a configuration error somewhere.
    I'm having a problem with my Task Scheduler as well. I get the error, "Task Image is Corrupt or has been Tampered with." When I open it. Then it brings up 31 error messages that I have to click "OK" to. That problem is all over the web from back in the VISTA days. I'm not sure it's really effecting anything...
    When I try backing up my email, everything seems to start properly and I get an icon in the taskbar "Acronis True Image Home: 0% complete" That's where it hangs and holds my email LOCKED. I have to go in and kill the Trueimage service to release the hold. Then it says "Not backed up" and file size of 0. I can browse to the destination folder and there is an 8K file there, but it just seems to be corruption. The Disk/Partition backup seems to work ok. I've been all over this thing for 2 days now and I'm not one to give up. :-)

My phone keeps going on speaker when I make a call


Solution: Kill all Apps. Go to apps select "task manager" hit "refresh" then "kill all". go to home page if there are no apps on your task bar then it's done it's job, if not pulldown the task bar and complete any tasks the open app needs you to do before it will close (ie you might be in the middle of syncing an email account). Kill all apps again using task manager. Should now work fine.

Hello

1. Open the run box. If you can't get to it by using the windows key or alt S, then hit ctrl alt del and open the task manager, file, new task.

2.Type explorer and press enter. The desktop should appear.

3.Is it happening on the administrator account only?

4.You might need a system restore.

5. Before you try a system restore, see if there are any conflicts, hardware and software. Look at the device manager for hardware conflicts and disable everything under the startup tab in msconfig to test for software conflicts.

6. If that doesn't work, backup all data and try the system restore.

I have lost ALL of my taskbars!! How do I get them back?


A program called explorer.exe controls the display of your taskbar and desktop icons. If for some reason it goes missing (you may have killed it using Task Manager, for example, or something more sinister like a virus has deleted it from your processes), then try this first:
  1. Open Task Manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del, then click Task Manager).
  2. On the Applications tab, click New Task at the bottom right of the window.
  3. Type explorer.exe, then click OK.
If nothing sinister caused it to disappear, it should all come back as it was and you can stop panicking, breathe a sigh of relief, and continue working.
If that doesn't work, then try this:
  1. Open Task Manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del, then click Task Manager).
  2. Go to the Processes tab.
  3. Click on the Image Name column header to sort the list alphabetically.
  4. Find all explorer.exe processes - select each, then click End Process for each one.
  5. On the Applications tab, click New Task at the bottom right of the window.
  6. Type explorer.exe, then click OK.
Are you using snagit, try to uninstall it and then check if you still get the errors. If you donot use snagit then there would be another error.

If you cant access control panel use the "Windows Key+R" on the keyboard which opens the run dialog and type in 'sysdm.cpl' which opens the control panel.
You could also try to restore you windows using System Restore and select a date of the backup when the computer was working well.

Make sure you do a complete virus scan with a good antivirus with updated virus definitions as it could be a virus too.

Are you running klite? Haali media splitter is incompatible with ImageMixer.
Go to Klite Config Manage Spliiters and turn Haali off for anything with TS in it.

Strange problem, but try this:
  1. Open Task Manager
  2. File > New Task (Run...)
  3. type "control printers"

Try clearing internet cache, temporal files etc.
from internet explorer go to tools delete browsing history then select everything.

Explorer.exe won't come up after downloading and installing new software


In my openion, Virus doesn't want to be killed by anti-virus :D You need to download DM2000 (disk manager 2000 of SeaGate) and run it in DOS mode to format Hard-Disk.
