You have to take it all apart and clean the gears and shaft with keroseen on a rag. Use steel wool to take the rust off the shafts and gears and see if the motor will spin without the gears attached to it. If it does not that has to be taken apart and cleaned. When putting it all together use a light grease or vasoline and put a little on the gears and shafts. Put a little on the motor shaft but make sure you do not get it on the comutator where the brushes ride on the motor.

Dyson DC44 Animal - Will not run continuously, cut in and out?

Its also routinely a loose battery connection. If you turn on the unit and just giggle the battery unit below and it shuts off, then you have this problem. I fixed mine by gently pushing the main battery posts (on the motor unit side) apart a bit to give it a more solid contact with the battery contacts. Also on both the motor unit and battery ends they have 3 contact points as well. Not sure what these are for, but i scraped both ends of the 3 contact slides to ensure no corrosion was affecting electrical transfer. So far it runs flawlessly again.

Proper Hose Length Sizing for Swimming Pool Pressure Cleaners

Belive it or not... too many swivels add to the problem!
Most people think if I add a swivel right here, where it begins to coil then tangle, it will fix the problem, but yet the problem remains!!!

The manufacturer recommends this for the proper layout of the hoses; from the wall all the way to the head:

If the hoses are old, they may no longer be pliable enough? You should replace them with new ones: 1 section Clear Soft Hose, and 2 sections of White, not so soft hoses.
  • First, determine the deepest part of the pool/pool "Depth"
  • That is how "Long" the 1st hose is to be. The softer clear hose
  • Now... Attach all the hoses together, 1st hose already cut per the above and the other two "White" hoses - UNCUT.
    • Place the head at the point on the deck where the wall adaptor is for the hose to attach
  • Walk around the pool holding the wall adaptor
    • Move your hand forward towards the edge of the pool to mark the total length of the pool, if you come to a point where your hand is over the water, hose is too short, move your hand back, if your hand is too far back away from the waters edge, the hose too long
  • Once you get back to the starting point, you should now know how long the hose needs to be. You could probably have 1' - 4', maybe more maybe less? Take note of the excess hose, that will need to be cut off, too long of hose will only tangle up. BUT WAIT, THERES MORE....
    • You may think that I now just cut off the excess length? You would be wrong!!!
    • Lets say you have 4' of excess hose...
    • Follow the hose in your hand to the next swivel, disconnect it.
    • NOW Cut. But... cut off 2' from one of the white hoses, AND 2' from the other white hose.
    • Reconnect the swivel. You have now cut off 4' of excess hose.
Recap: What you have done is with the 3 pieces of hose is cut it & adjusted it to the correct lengths. The soft hose is as long as the pool is deep. The two White Harder pieces are Exactly Even!! The way it should be!

Now, the Back up valve will be placed on the soft hose about 3-4' away from the head.

Follow this and the hose should not tangle. And...
Heed any advice about storing the hose coiled as it is not good, As this advice will be ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
Whenever storing, always store in a straight line, otherwise it will retain the memory of the coil. If this has already happened, then take hose & stretch over the deck in the sun for the better part of the day, this will relax the hose & erase any memory of the coil.

Good Luck

When I press the foot pedal it just whines until I manually move the hand wheel and it starts sewing. It will sew but each time I stop I have to "help" it get started by turning the hand wheel. ...

Have you checked the tension setting and also, see if the belt spins free when you press on the foot petal. If the belt seems tight and isn't slipping it's something else. Belts aren't hard to change. Just difficult because you kinda/sorta don't take no for an answer and with slight force, get the old one out and squeeze the new one in while turning the wheel by hand with a little pressure. Seems wrong but that's how they change them in the shop!

Elkay drinking fountain M#erpb28c continuously runs, having problems getting mounting nut back onto bubbler, seems basin should come off for access, however needind a reapir manual or access instructions...

The Elkay fountains are turned on by a solenoid powered valve. There is a rubber grommet in that valve assembly that gets holes in it and then water gets behind it, causing the valve to stick on. To test that it is a solenoid problem, turn the water on and then unplug the power to the fountain--if the water continues to run you have a solenoid problem. You'll need to replace the solenoid and I've detailed how to do it with all the steps and lots of pictures on my blog: http://johnfixesstuff.blogspot.com/2014/10/how-to-fix-elkay-model-ezfs81b-replace-solenoid-35981c.html John Fixes Stuff How To Fix an Elkay Model EZFS8 1B Drinking Fountain...

I dropped my battery operated alarm clock: the second hand still works but the alarm doesn't come on at the set time and the hour & minute hands don't "hold" their position - I took the clear...

The hour and minute hands can be pushed onto their respective shafts at any point in most clocks.
If you already know the time that the alarm is set, let the clock run until it sounds.
When the alarm sounds, install the hour hand and the minute hand to the exact alarm set time. If, say, the alarm is set for 6:30, push the hour hand onto it's shaft at exactly half way between 6 and 7 and then push the minute hand onto it's shaft pointing at exactly 6.
I think this should get you operating.

I've been very happy with my Pronto 2 in 1 until recently, when it doesn't seem to "****" very well. I've cleaned the filters, etc, and the motor sounds fine. Any suggestions?

Did you check the smaller filter inside the main filter? The main filter comes apart to reveal a smaller filter inside the main filter. This needs cleaning also. If you have found and cleaned that one also. Check the Hose at the bottom for restriction. Thats about it.

IRobot rumba 4000 seems to run ok and then starts making a kinda hi pitched growling noise and slows way down. it is very clean(blown clean with air compressor)sensors are clear ,newly installed well...

It sounds like your Roomba's brush gears are not working. Run the robot without the dust bin to see if the brushes are turning. If they are not, the robot will need to be replaced. Contact iRobot CS for support at (877) 855-8593.

Brushes are not turning both belts are fine Are the belts air driven like the hand tools seem to be.

electric driven, usually hair gets wrapped around inside around the edges of the brushes enough to stop the motors. Take it apart and find out.

How can i clean the hose of my bissell spot bot? It looks like mold is beginning to grow in the hose.

Well... it's sub optimal but this is what I did, run hot water into the sink, add a few table spoons of bleach and run the hose along the edge of the water to slowly **** it into the hose (the tank fills very rapidly and the auto shut off will activate). You will want to run 4 or 5 tanks of waste to get the bulk of the gunk along the walls out and this will also get rid of the serratia growing (red stuff). If you dangle the hose in a u down the front of the sink and shut off the machine you can catch about a pint of water and bleach solution in the hose and roll it around inside the hose then let it sit for awhile and finish by sucking it into the waste tank, not perfect but my hose is much cleaner.
