Chances are you just fried the battery. You can go to Ebay and find a new battery their for a very good price. Of course, if it got too hot cause it was left on while charging, the safety feature that keeps it from frying will keep it from turning on too. Wait a few hours to cool down then check it. If it doesn't turn on just go to ebay and buy a new battery. No big deal.
The computer probably wont supply enough power to charge the PSP, just plug it in to the charger and leave it for 20 minutes and it will power up
I never thought of that. Could be a possibility. But weren't PSP's designed so you can charge them on your computer?
yes but some computers only supply a small charge to each USB Port
Just make sure you leave it switched off and charging for at least twenty minutes before trying to turn it on
Hmm... that's cool. I didn't know that.
did my solution work then TopMusician3?
Ummm... no desrespect intended scousemartin but... I didn't ask the question. dsmeissner did. Shouldn't you be asking him? Lol.
none taken, but trying to keep track of who asked what on here is hard :) But yes you are right i should be asking him. But as he isnt answering :)
Ah. True. I actually don't own a psp. Lol. I just like to take any broken electronic and try to fix it. You learn alot about how they go together and stuff that way. Also, in response to your question, I did have a friend test your solution on three computers and found that one of them, an old Dell Latitude laptop, didn't put out enough from the USB port to charge it.
it also depends on how many usb devices are plugged into the pc/laptop too. Even newer machines cant handle it sometimes, if i plug my phone in and a usb hard drive, along with my keyboard and mouseand a webcam, unless i use a dual mini usb cable , one for charging and the other for communication the hard drive will beep as there is insufficient power and i have a 750w power supply in there :)

The polarity of the charger you used is wrong or the wrong voltage, and has messed up the programming n the battery. You may be lucky if you get a new battery and use the Right charger, It might fix it. Sony put a battery in the PSP that has a memory chip in it, and I think it will automatically disconnect if the wrong vooltage hits it, or wrong polarity. be warned that I have seen where someone got a new battery and it did not solve the problem. If this happens to you Contact Sony at the following number.
