The coral dvd movie maker program is looking for its serial number
the serial number of the camera will not help you.
also called the product key or serial key.
it should be in its manual, box, or dvd case.
the serial keys are long like a windows OS key
example 4RT2-8XPT-89HT-PTR9-UCT0
it should be on a special sticker in the front or back of the manual,
on the back/side of the box, or on the dvd case that the dvd is in.
sometimes its on a seperate card.

I turned on my dc100 today and it powered on, then went off. It will not power back on, even with the adapter attached. Earlier I was getting a "set date and time" message

sounds like the power adapter is failing, have you got a multy-meter to test if your gettin a voltage out of the adapter, the adapter should have an output voltage printed on the side, Also if the adapter is faulty it wont charge the battery so in turn wont fire up your cam it will just show on for a few seconds till the battery drains again. if you take your adapter to the local electrical store they will fined you one thats the same amperage/voltage and the correct polarity.

Editing videos taken from canon dc100 camcorder

I see here that . . .

"The DC100 takes 3-inch Mini DVD-R/RW discs, and like most of its competitors, can fit about 20 minutes of best-quality video on one. If you choose to initialize a disc for playing in a standalone player, the camcorder writes standard VOB files; if you initialize for future editability, it records in the VRO format. Windows Media Player can play the latter if you rename the file with an MPG extension, however the aspect-ratio information gets lost--that info is encoded into a separate file--so 16:9 video will get squashed into 4:3. "

Cnet Reviews.

Your videos are recorded in the common DVD format called MP2.
They have the extention .MPG so if you copy the video files to your computer, and change the end of the filename from VOB, or VRO to an MPG then your software can recognize it as the MP2 format that it is.

There is a Windows XP program, called Windows Movie Maker, it can open your video files and provide you with most of the video editing tools.

Cheers.

No volume on canon DC100

Look on page 29 of your manual

Are you sure you do don't have the system muted?
Press the Menu, then System Setup, press SET. Select VOLUME then press SET.Adjust the volume with the left/right arrow keys, then click set.

Hope this helps...

If you don't have the manual (although I know you said you read the manual), go to:
