Question about ACE Dimplex (r) Compact Electric Fireplace (DFP36430) Heater
To change the bulbs on the Dimplex Horton:
Remove the loose coals from the top of the orange plastic fuel bed moulding to prevent them falling inside the fire.
Remove the two screws, one either side of the metal grate at the front.
Withdraw the grate and you now have access to the two candle bulbs.

If you have a compact fireplace in a cabinet mantle, you will need to remove the front Plexiglas and frame from the front of the firebox. Remove the logs, then the 1- piece ember bed (it just lifts out). This will give you access to the light bulbs.
If you what looks like an old wood stove, you access then from the rear of the unit. Remove the bottom access panel by unscrewing the 4 screws that hold it in place. You can then reach the light bulbs to change them.
In both cases, the replacement bulbs are small base chandelier bulbs.
Hope this helps to solve your problem.
