Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Remote is totally dead as if there are no batteries in it. Put in tested new batteries, no result. Opened up the remote and inspected all the solder joints and power lines from the battery to the circuit board. No problems found. Where else can I look to troubleshoot a non-operational Sharp ga551wjsa remote? Paul at sjt_pcb@rogers.com

This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls.

Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.

Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!

Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to
each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)

Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.

Step 5- Try the remote.

Special Note:

If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote.
If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the set.

Try the controls on the set if available to verify the set works. If you need another remote, you can try sites like eBay, www.remotes.com etc.

PROPLEM IN MY CAR REMOTE ?

Its very common for the two battery contacts inside the remote to come loose from the circuit board, causing all kinds of issues with units no longer working properly. Open the remote and inspect all the solder joints on the circuit board, re-solder any loose ones and it should go back to normal.

The remote on my kobalt wall mounted vac #KWM 508 does not work. Changed battery still does not work.

My remote quit working too, light would come on only when pressing the off button. Searched the internet can't find anything on a replacement. I took it apart and tested the on button with an ohm meter and found it was not completing the circuit. I opened up the button by prying the metal top off with a pocket knife, which is not meant to be opened, and removed the disc inside. I then lightly scraped the three contacts inside the switch and bottom side of the disc put back together, works fine now. If it happens again I will have to solder in new buttons, at least I know the electronic parts are good.

T.v. does not respond to remote control, but does work maually from side buttons

Turn tv on manually.Test the remote control all functions are dead or some functions work other don't?Tries take the remote control parts and clean the inner rubbers buttons between the rubbers insulater and the remote circuitries board and the battery connections + - connections with some rubbing alchahol. Then wait awhile like 20 mins and putting it back together again and putting in new battery in the remote,it might work again. If getting the same result than the remote CPU chip is probally dead, remote control devices are very depended on it CPU chip.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an original remote for the replacement.

I have replaced the batteries and it still doesn't work Sony RM Ed 009

This may sound dumb but i've seen it before, check if the batteries are correcly installed (correct polarity), verify the batteties with a meeter (i've seen new dead batteries) with new batteries point the remote towards a camera if it works you should see the LED's flashing if not the remote is dead (it could also be bad solderings)

Remote control train won't work

The wires will have pulled off the circuit board inside.

Remove screws (force a hex driver in there) and solder wire back on.

Train surgey (geddit) is very fiddly. Have a drink first! ;-)

Remote keyless intermittent function

I had the same problem. If your car is still under warranty, simply go to the dealer and have the keyless entry remotes replaced. If your car is not under warranty and you do not want to fork over the hefty fee for new remotes, you should be able to repair them yourself.

If you open your keyless remotes, you will likely find that the contacts which hold the battery in place have come unsoldered. Basically, the problem lies in the fact that Daimler/Chrysler used a cold soldering method when adhering the battery contact to the circuit board in some of these remotes. Under normal wear, these cold soldered contacts will eventually bust loose.

In order to repair the remote(s), you will need a soldering iron and solder.

1)Remove the screw from the back of the remote. Pry apart the two halves of the remote using a dime or penny.

2)Remove the circuit board, placing it battery side up. Remove the battery.

3)Carefully place the battery holders contact pins back into their respective holes.

4)Take care to put a small amount of solder on each of the loose contact pins. Put a small bead in both the back and front of each contact pin.

5)Replace the battery and put the circuit board back into the remote. Test to make sure the remote is functioning properly, then snap the back of the remote on and replace the screw.

Don't thank me, credit for how to repair this issue goes to 'Sodapop' from custommagnums.com.
