It sounds like you have a obstruction on the suction porsion of the machine. Take the hose of the unit and see if the noise is still there. If not there is something caught in the hose brush or where the brush attaches.

If it is not in the hose you have to take the cover off the bottom to see if something is lodged in there.

Making a high pitch wine, very noisy with no blockage.

Sometimes there is a tiny speck of dust caught between the top of the canister and the lid. Unlock lid, with a slightly damp tissue wipe around top on canister and then the rubber seal in the lid, dry with dry tissue, put back together, noise should be gone.

Sebo upright barged hoover- good suction using hose, brush wont turn, sounds fine when running, nasty wineing noise when stopping?? help!! i love my hoover, have checked for bolckages....

The real clue seems to be the brush is not turning, a bad belt is possible or a blockage at that head, if you cannot get the brush moving the rest does not matter.

A high pitch wine may be the sign of a bad bearing. Try to narrow down exactly where the noise is coming from. You may have to remove the brushroll and turn it on without it to see if it could be coming from there.

No suction for Kenmore upright vacuum

You have not stated which model vacuum you have. Bipass vacuum have a bipass compartment which is under drive unit. Make sure there are no cracks around housing as this is where you vacuume is created. In order to have vacuum you must have airflow, in assences suction. No air flow, no suction. If the airflow is deverted somehow suction will stop. Your filter, your bag are all sources of air flow. Clog either and you lose suction. Start with loss of air, being cracks in housing, bag or filter

Loud noise/Sounds clogged

You could have a clogged air filter and vacuum is not getting air to motor. You could have hair and string buildup on ends of roller brush. You can put a vaccum hose over a broom handle to clean it out. Also, check the little elbow of the hose at the bottom f vacuum where it bends.

The vacuum drive makes a wining sound

Does It make the noise all the time or only when the machine is moving. If it does it only when you push the vacuum that noise is normal. The older Kirby transmissions make a whining noise when pushed.

Buzzing sound

You ether have an air restriction, or your bypass valve is broken. If it is an air restriction: The motor requires more air flow to stay cool, the noise you hear is an emergency air inlet made to prevent overheating. You may need to use the hepa bag to help increase the air flow. Some hose attachments will cause this to happen, your performance indicator light (if you have one) should also be illuminated if it is an air flow issue. Check your hose for a blockage.

Loud whistling noise from back of vacuum

On the back side of most kenmore vacuums, there is an air relief diaphragm that, when the motor is sucking but there is no air flow, will pop, causing the sound you heard. check your hose for blockage, check your bag and or filter for blockage, even your attachments/wands can become lodged with debris. Often, after a few, the motor will get hot and the machine will shut down. This is a thermostat on the motor that protects it from overheating. I am quite sure that this will solve your kenmore woes, fine choice in vacuum, kenmore, tried and true. hope to have helped! Have a super, and hopefully sucking(ha ha) Sunday
