I have a HPj3600 series printer,copier, scanner and fax machine all in one. I have been using refillable cartridges all this time. When an update was done on my computer, it will not allow me to use refillable cartridges anymore, only the name brand which costs double. I have using refillable cartridges for over 10 years with no problems. I have always gotten them from the same reputable company. How do I change this back so I can continue using the refillables?

take the cartridges out and clean them also clean where they go with a lint free cloth then replace them.

Trying cleaning the contacts on the cartridge and clean the contacts on the printer use a dry tint paper towel to clean the contacts. Then try to reinstall the cartridge using the software. Try to print the self test. If failed try another cartridge if you dont get any error then the cartridge might be defective

Go to printer in Control Panel-> Printers, select properties, the Canon utilities will include a cleaning option, along with aligning. Canon cartridges can be really finicky though; don't be surprised if it doesn't work at all.
