Component video IS analog. It is also known as Y-Pr-Br. These connections are typically RCA connectors colored Red/Green/Blue.
Component will give you the highest quality signal for analog connections (vs Composite Video (yellowRCA) or S-Video(the round 4 pin connector) Of course HDMI will be best if it is supported.
Keep in mind video signal formats are NOT interchangable, you cannot plug a Composite Video into a Component Input

All you need is a component source (typically a DVD player) and 3 RCA cables and match the colors up.
You will also need to connect the Audio connectors (Red/White) with RCA cables, as the Component is Video only
I hope this helps,
Magoo

I replaced my TV and now my VCR Zenith Model 2100 will not record

Digital TV can use component video and stereo connections to record on analog VCR. Analog VCR needs DTV converter to record digital TV channels. VCR play back use AV channel on TV.

I am using a logitech harmony one remote. i have a yamaha rx-v463 hooked up to a phillips hdtv, i am running hdmi from revr to tv. i have cable box hooked upi hdmi to recvr and bluray player hooked up to...

The remote has nothing to do with this.

Get into the manual. Page 14 says Component Video In will go to Component Video Out, not HDMI. No analog-digital video conversion is implied.

I am trying to hook up my Pioneer vsx-455 to a LG LED LCD TV. I am not sure on how to do this and I can not find a manual anywhere. Can you help me?

your reciever does not have hdmi, so the audio is not going to be true DD+ or DTS for broadcast tv.

if your dvd/blue ray player has digital optical spdif, this can be used to transfer the encoded DD+/DTS digital audio.

the besat way to run your tv audio through the reciever is to hook up the dvd/blue ray player up with (perferrably) digital optical spdif, composite spdif or (least favorably) through the stereo stereo analog inputs on the reciever for "dvd" audio in and hook the video from the dvd/blue ray up to the corresponding "dvd" video component input on the reciever.

this way is only going to get your dvd/blue ray sound, next you need to hook up your cable box to the reciever so that you can get broadcast tv sound. hook up the cable box audio to the "tv" stereo analog audio ins, and hook the video to the corresponding "tv" video component inputs.

the component video inputs have separate jacks for red, green and blue ( labeled "Y" "Pb" and "Pr") and are capable of carrying a 1080p full hd signal. use the component video outputs on the reciever to output the video signal to a component video input on the tv, using the receiver's input selector to change the video source.

My digital tv tuner converter box with analog Zenith converter bo

Most DTV converter boxes have 2 outputs available; RF and component video. The RF goes in between the antenna and the TV and acts as a frontend tuner. The TV needs to be set to Channel 3 or 4 (depending on the box) and left there. All tuning is then by the converter box. By the way, you need to scan for channels as part of the setup. The other method is by using the audio/video component inputs to the TV and the set would then select AUX 1 or 2 etc to get the box input, and tune via the box.

I have a HP a705w desktop and I am trying to hook to a TV

You don't say which graphics card (many people change the stock card)

Your best bet is if your card has S-VIDEO out.
Only use a good quality cable as many of the s-video cables are just not up to the job.

There are also VGA to COMPONENT cables about. Experience shows that this does not work as well as should be expected as it too has a pretty high chance of failure to analog tv.

There is a 50/50 chance of it not working with analog. That figure changes dramatically with flat panel tv

How I hook up an XBOX 360 to digital converter box (TV does have yellow/white/red jacks). Also have rabbit ears for antenna. Thank you.

you don,t , the xbox 360 will have component cables and posibly an hdmi output , but you can plug the component cables directly to the tv in a auxillary input and on your menu screen it will either say video1 or video2 or video 3 ,you can put the cables from your xbox into those inputs on the tv and as long as your tv is also at that input you should have a signal , hope this helps ,glenn

Hdmi in but no analog out

the guy was wrong. the analog and digital portions of the receiver are totally separate.

according to Yamaha:

"Be sure to connect your video components in the same way you connect your video monitor to this unit. For example, if you connect your video monitor to this unit using an HDMI or COMPONENT VIDEO connection, connect your video components to this unit using
the HDMI or COMPONENT VIDEO connection."

sorry bud:-(

Sony str-dg820. having a problem getting video on tv

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

Help!!

Do you have your other components wired to the Onkyo. The monitor output isn't the best way to go. If your TV has component inputs or an HDMI you should run one of those instead, running a composite video cable will only get you analog at best.

If you are content with running analog you may need to go into the menu on your tv and select the type of video input you are using. The same goes for your receiver, switch the output to analog out.
