Question about Microsoft Windows Live Messanger

1 Answer

Hi there! I was doing regular maintenance on W7 64bits... some registry cleaner program asked me to "repair" the registry ant then... boom. my windows live 2001 went blank (black, actually). I mean, I can log in, I see the menu but all other things are "covered" with a black screen, so I can't see my contacts (yes, I can receive messages but not start some conversation etc.) or anything when I get into it. I restored to the 8.5 and it worked well, then I tried to install live 2011 again and... #fail what should I do? Didn't have any restore points before today (yep, I forgot setting) and now I got this... My guess is the "registry cleaner" removed some dll it shouldn't, or some other resource for it to run well. The problem is I really don't have a clue... thanks

Don't use registry cleaners. They're not worth the trouble.

Try completely uninstalling Windows Live Essentials, rebooting, and then installing the 2011 version again.

Loses use of flashplayer?

Hi:
I'm not sure what you are running for "cleaners", but it sounds like your programs are mis-interpreting the registry entries of flashplayer to be an unwanted program. Look in the program's settings for an area where you can allow exceptions, and include flash player in the list. The other thing you might try is not running a registry cleaner, as most of these programs cause more trouble than they do good. If you are using them to make your computer run faster and more reliable, regular disk cleanup and defragmenter use will do more for you than any registry cleaner
