High on mileage means that the engine has done a lot of work, possible that the compression is down, need to check if this is below level, if there is oil used in excess then the engine needs an overhauling subject to the cost estimated.

Cant compromise on bad fuel as this will bring down the power of the engine.
High fule consumption means poor setting so fuel and ignition , check fuel settings- pump calibration and timing.

My 2008 Rav4 has very high fuel consumption (250km/60L tank). Whats the problem?

Hoe many miles is on the car? High mileage or low grade fuels can cause the fuel injectors to partially clog, then the fuel doesn't atomize in the cylinder for combustion and you end up with lousy mileage.

Ford quality fuel consumption and maintenance costs?

Toyota : European and American versions of the interior is good , fine , so humane. Fuel consumption and Volkswagen, Ford models almost Japanese engine technology compared to Europe and there is no advantage , because the car is lighter fuel , security aspects more than the domestic version of the strong. In the United States is taking the low -selling line, after all, the United States has GM, Ford put in that the two brands . U.S. oil prices coupled with cheaper , generally a car, the first one is an American car , that\'s a slight exaggeration to buy a bottle of mineral water will drive pickups go . General economic conditions, poor students and blacks will buy Toyota and other Japanese cars . The Japanese are good at sales, so the taxi also appeared partly in Toyota car.

Ford : Americas penetration is high, the U.S. police cars, taxis , pickups , etc. but also with Ford brand recognition is very high. Many models are Ford\'s global synchronization sales. Americans are more pro-gaze Ford car . Ford had acquired Volvo, Land Rover , Jaguar , Aston Martin , Lincoln , Mercury and other brands. Ford\'s advantage is built SUVs and pickups. Many high-end SUV are imported Ford and Volvo , Land Rover , Jaguar same platform , security is very high. World-class R & D engine , 1.0T for this procurement is Germany \'s SMART. You buy in the U.S., and other aspects of quality is better than homemade , cheap maintenance.

My 2000 model Nissan Sentra Ex saloon has high fuel consumption. What could be the cause?

The air filter will affect mileage if it hasn't been changed in a while. The injectors may be sending too much fuel either from wear or a map sensor problem.

I have a problem with My 3.2 L Q5 giving me low mileage.. Everything is good except for the returns either within the city(<13 mpg) or highway(<16mpg) The car is less than 10K miles and I...

Have them scan the STFT and LTFT with scanner.

STFT should never be above +9%.

It should be 0% LTFT.

STFT = Short Term Fuel Trim.

LTFT = Long Term Fuel Trim.

Trim indicates fuel management based on O2 sensor feed back.

Normal fuel consumption will be close to 0% STFT with slight toggle to 3, 6, or 9%....this is normal.

High fuel consumption will read =STFT over 12% and LTFT at above zero%.

You might check the fuel you fill up with.....if it contains any Ethanol you will loose mileage. 15% mileage loss for every 10% Ethanol.

Use recommend engine oils.

Keep tyre pressure to high side of pressure recommendations.

Loose the Ski Rack too ! ..... Just kidding !

POWER STEERING AND HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION

You need to check the the power steering resevior located under the hood, the fluid level may be low, and a possible leak, if low you will need to add some power steering fluid, the fuel consumption maybe in need of a tune-up oil change, spark, plugs, fuel filter, air filter.

High gas mileage (15- 20 l per 100km)

try changing the oil also it will cause the engine to burn more fuel with bad oil because it gets hot and evaporates it alot more

What are the possible reasons for high fuel consumption?

a low cylinder will cause a reduction in fuel economy. also in the winter months many states oxygenate thier fuel, it helps with emmisions but reduces economy. higher octane fuel usually has less feul economy, drop to the mid grade

How to improve the fuel efficiency?

my 2 cents -

1. You didn't specify your exact model, on this site you'll fond your answer - http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/1989_Toyota_Camry.shtml

2. There are a few ways to do this, here's one -
- Fill your gas tank to the very top.
- Write down your odometer or reset you trip meter.
- Drive your car till it's time to fill it up again.
- When it's time to fill you tank, fill it to the very top (preferd in the same station, in the same pump).
- divide the number of miles (or kilometers) you drive, by the amount of gas you filled, This is of course only true for this gas tank, fuel consumption is effected by many things, load, driver, type of miles you do (city or hoghway), etc..

3. Service your car regularly, make sure tire pressure is correct, don't drive like you are racing.

Good luck,
Eitan.
