Question about Heating & Cooling
Stinks? Are you using old Kerosene? Have you replaced the wick recently? Is there soot on the inside or around the top of the heater? If you answered 'Yes' to the first question, then you know what the the solution is. If the unit has soot on or around it, then the problem is with the wick. It may need to be replaced or if it's fairly new, just trimming the top with a pair of scissors may be enough. As the wick height is concerned, it depends on how much heat you're looking for. Generally, the wick height shouldn't exceed 1/2" from the top of the adjustment mantle. Of course, it can be turned down some, once the area heats to the desired comfort level. The final question about the odor or it's cause. Have you painted, stained or cleaned your carpeting recently.? If you have, the heater is picking up the residual odors from those things and making it 50 times worse.
Hope this all helped solve your problem. Please let me know.
