CD/DVD Player reads "unsupported format." I have had nothing but problems with my system. Will never purchase Bose product again!!!!!!!

Yep, I have the same problem on my Lifestyle 48. Only get the problem with DVD's not CD's. All the DVD's play ok on two other non-bose DVD players in the house. Have also uploaded the most current updates yet the "Fomat Insupported!" problem still exists. DVD are clean. Sometimes a DVD will play after half a dozen "format unsupported" errors, the box turns itself off and then it plays the DVD when I try it again after switching it back on.

I bought my Bose 321 System 3 years ago. The problems with format unsupported started two years ago. I opened the player inside it is a Toshiba normal (as for your computer !!!) dvd player. I cleaned the lens but and after this operation it worked....1 month. I think it is more likely that there is some contact problem because I opened it till now three times always the same: for a while it works than the problem reappears. This was not the only problem I had with the Bose. I had also well documented random sound interruptions (2-3 s). The Bose service sent it me back with software upgrade this however didn´t solve the problem, so I sent it again and voila they changed the bass module (the big black box).

Format unsupported simply means the unit can not read the disc. The problem is either the disc or the player.

Contact Bose technical support if you are sure the discs are good. 800-367-4008

maybe the DVD player you got is not supporting all DVDs from around the globe. There is this thing called NTSC region 1 for Americas, region 2 for Europe, Region 3 for Asia, Region 0 for everything. I don't know the other regions but that must have been the problem.

DVDs with pictures refuse to play. Get 'format unsupported'

the 321 does not support data cds or dvds read the manual. standard DVD or VCD format only.
