Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

When using the delicate setting, the clothes do not get fully spun dry. In addition water has leaked out of the machine and the water did not fully drain. Again only happens on the delicate setting

The switch is fine. The machine drains properly on all settings but delicate. Should I call in a repairman? Or as I told my wife just don't use the delicate setting...

Hi

Be sure the drain hose isn't kinked. Check the tab on the lid that strikes the lid switch; if it is broken, the washer may stop during the drain cycle. Press and release the lid switch. If it doesn't click each time you do this, it's probably broken. If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repairperson.
The water pump may be broken or clogged with a small article of clothing, or the controls may be broken;

    Hi

If the washer will drain in all cycles except delicate then check the motor and timer for the cause of the problem. If the washer will drain and spin in other cycles but not delicate then the timer is most likely at fault. You can check this by your own or call a repair person for thorough check up.

The dishwasher runs through it's cycle but does not clean the dishes properly and leaves a cloudy film and smears on the inside of the machine and the dishes

    Common Problem
  1. Confirm the wash water is hot
    1. Try heated wash(sani wash) if available
    2. Run hot water in sink to warm up before starting
    3. At least 120 degree Fahrenheit water temperature
  2. Open door check wash arm position start washer for a minute
    1. Confirm wash arm has rotated
    2. Check for plugged spray tips at either end of wash arm.
    3. Use small tweezers to remove
    4. Check for rack and dishes interfering with arm rotation
  3. Place cup in upper rack with opening up cycle washer.
    1. Confirm that cup quickly fills with water
    2. Not washing check water level in tub mim 1 1/2 inch
  4. Discontinue use of rinse/dry liquid additive.
    1. Confirm rinse/dry additive not leaking from dispenser into tub
    2. Washer detergent contains sparkle additive and too much sparkle/rinses/dry additive will coat dishes
    3. Try alternative wash detergent that contains minimal rinse/dry additive and use without liquid rinse/dry additive.
  5. It will take several wash cycles after the elimination of rinse/dry to purge the oily film from dishes and machine..
  6. If success "joy" is achieved with no additives then cautiously add back wash detergent with additives. Additives are important to facilitate drying and protecting the glassware china from leaching. The leaching process permanently etches the surface of glassware leaving a cloudy appearance.

Easy and correct wash dry instructions

Just as I suspected, this is made out of synthetic materials. [main body] Invista Lycra, [compression] PWX FLEX, [panels] Powermesh

I suggest that you set it on "hand wash" setting on your washer. If that is not available, use "Delicate" or "Gentle" cycle. If you don't have a washing machine, best thing to do is hand wash it. Fill a clean sink with water, add a little bit of gentle detergent (many different brands are available and labeled as "gentle care". I use Seventh Generation, which can be bought at regular grocery stores and even Target!

And then hang dry it. Dryers ruin clothing especially manmade materials. I typically hang something at night and it is dry by the morning. Also recommend hanging your top in the bathroom as the enclosed area has a greater deal of circulation/ air flow than other areas of the house.

My ecosmart GWL11 Fisher and Paykel washing machine is leaking water from the bottom, I think during the spin cycle, but am not sure--there is a puddle of water when I come out to put clothes in dryer. ...

Double check your drain hose is both attached and that there are no splits in the hose. I have found that even the smallest split/hole leaks huge amounts of water. If the hose has come off you will obviously need to reattach it, if it is split i found it best to replace rather than repair the hose.

You're a moron. This unit washes and dries. That's the whole point of it. Perhaps you should do some research before answering the question. the most likely cause is the water lever sensor.

its probably normal as new machines now only put in enough water to saturate the clothes its only the rinse or wool/delicate cycles that use a higher water level

The problem lies with the water valve at the water entrance area; trace the pipe from where the water comes to dispenser. This should be done after opening up the top ( careful not to touch any part which could give you electric shock or anything) The pipe where the water gushes should be traced back to the inlet area, you will have to change this valve. To see the gush gently open the dispenser drawer.
