I have a vt631401aj campbell hausfeld compressor. when it builds pressure to 135 psi, the compressor shuts down and immediatly starts dumping air until it goes down to 90 psi. It then stops dumping the...

John: I had a similar problem with a brand new CH-made compressor. The problem was not with the unloader valve, but with the check valve located where the air from the pump enters the tank. The check valve was not seating correctly due to brass filings from manufacture. The defective check valve was allowing air to escape back the wrong way from the tank to the pressure switch and through the unloader valve. This backflow from the tank would start to happen when the pump stopped after reaching high pressure. The back flow would continue until the pump restarted at the low pressure point. This cycling would continue as you described. Once I cleaned the check valve, everything (including the unloader valve) started working correctly. I hope this helps. And remember, don't work on these when they are under pressure and always wear safety glasses.

Can't get the compressor to fill both gages are at o

There are a few items that can fail. This is a belt driven pump so the belt may have broke. It also uses a pressure switch which can fail. The pump itself could have a scored piston/sleeve assembly although that is not as likely. There is also a valve plate that uses metal flapper valves and if one of the valves breaks it will not build up any pressure. You will need to remove the pump assembly from the tank and disassemble the pump to check these areas. You can view a complete parts breakdown by going to as DeWalt owns Porter Cable. The compressor keeps runing and will not cut out on the pressor it is set on the new switch it is electric compressor

If the pressure relief valve ( or "pop off" valve as we call it ) doesn't relieve the pressure by letting out air then your gage that you are using to determine the pressure may be faulty. Use a tire gage to double check yor pressure gage or just put another gage on.
If this is a "oilless" compressor then the rings may be bad.

Compressor fills with air and right side guage does not operate and no air is coming out of the valve to operate the nail gun

on the front below the gages is the regulator knob. turn it clockwise and the pressure on the gage should go up.turn it up to about 95 lbs. you might have to pull out on the knob to unlock it

It will not build pressure in the tank.

There is a pressure relief valve somewhere around the motor. Make sure it is closed. If the relief valve isnt leaking air while the compressor is running you probably have a loose hose on the line going from the compressor to the guages or the overpressure valve. Something under the motor/compressor cover.

Have problems with a/c not cooling on nissan maxima 1999 year .has good pressures on gages .not cooling inside ,doors on box seem too be working .compressor is working .any ideas on what maybe wrong

You say the pressures are good? The low side on this vehicle need to be lower than most, because it has a expansion valve,it needs to be around 30 psi,to about 35,if it is not,and the freon level is correct, then the expansion valve is bad.If this was helpful, please rate, thank you.

For my thesis: 5 condenser problems and 5 solutions

Problem number one.

condenser fan won't come on. solution check the capacitor if good ohm out the fan to see if it is bad. If bad replace fan motor with new one.

2. compressor will not come on. solution check the contactor to see if engaging this applies to problem 1 also. If engages check the capacitor on the herm side if it is bad replace. If good check compressor to see if the compressor is bad. Should it be bad replace compressor.

3. High head pressure not cooling properly dirty condenser coils. Clean coils. With hose and water.

4. Low head pressure frosting accruing on suction line. Check freon levels. Also check inside air filter for being dirty.

5. Condenser unit is failing to come on. solution check the power source check the contactor should the main power be bad check main breaker and replace any slow blow fuses that are bad. Should the contactor be bad check transformer to ensure 24 volts going to secondary side on contactor. Inspect the two wire going to outside unit condenser. replace any broken wire any bad transformer or bad contactor.

My accu-gage tire gage does not hold tire pressure reading. the dial drops slowly down to zero.

If there is a button you push to release the pressure (resetting the gage to zero), this is a valve which probably has a little piece of dirt impeding the seal of that valve. The dirt would have been carried there by the air and condensation. But don't take it apart to clean it. This is a typical problem with these kinds of gages. When you have plenty of air available (a compressor nearby) hold the gage on the valve stem, while you repeatedly push the release button. That should clear the dirt, but you may need to add more air to the tire.

When shutting down the compressor, oil comes out intake filter

hi there,
well,if your air compressor was shut off this due to pressure switch w/c auto switch off your compressor, the pressure switch acquired already the cut off pressure.if the pressure goes down the cut in set up reached it will start your compressor
to run.
regarding oil spillage when shutting down check the oil level on the sight glass of crankcase
a red line indicate oil should not exceed on that level line,if the oil exceed try to drain oil.,on the side bottom of engine there is a drain plug.until on limit level .,besure that machine is shut off/breaker is off.have a nice day don't forget to rate me,thank's

I can't seem to get my pressures up on a new 3 ton 13 seer goodman? High side 200psi low 50psi not cooling the house

You might have a bad valve on compressor.Close valve on high side and see if the low side pumps down. Of course you should have your gages hooked up.If your low side doesn't pump down you have a bad valve.
