Question about Baumatic 23 in. BDW5 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

My dishwasher runs through the cycle but doesn't empty. It looks like rice in the bottom when you take the filter out. Could the pump be blocked & how can I repair it. Is it possible to **** out with a Aquavac or possible blow back down the waste pipe. How is the filter supposed to stop anything like rice going through as the centre plastic removable part has large holes in it ??

Unfortunately it is important that the dishes are rinsed before they are placed into the dishwasher as the primary job is to get your dishes sterilized and cleaned.
So please try and remote off as much of particles by showing the dishes to the wash tap or use a wiper to clean off the food particles.
In all machines there are drains to which the drain pump is fitted and there is a filter but if the dirt level is too much the filter and also the drain pump will be clogged.
You can remove the pump and back-flush using a good spray, clean the filter by removing and flushing with brushing.
Once this is cleaned the pump must work and drain the waste water.

Lg dishwasher ldf7932st motor starts but doesn't work

Is the water turned off? Dishwashers normally start a wash by emptying any waste water tipped into them during loading. Problem could therefore be a blockage somewhere, most likely in pump inflow under the filters in bottom of machine. Lift these out to check. Also check your sink drain isn't blocked and preventing the water from being pumped out.

Washing machine won't pump out to go into spin cycle is there a strainer that needs cleaning

This is almost certainly a simple problem with your empty pump filter being clogged. The empty cycle is timed and if it can't get all the water out in time because the filter is blocked and slowing the empty down, then it will fail safe and won't step on to the final spin cycle with excess water in the drum. While it's trying to get the water evacuated, you will probably see the machine doing a slow tumble for up to 8 minutes and you may also hear the empty pump running too.
You need to locate and clean the filter. Depending on the model (not familiar which with the model you mention) there is probably a round filter cap on the front of the machine at the bottom (It may be behind a small door or hidden behind a clip on panel on the bottom) Many models of this design also have a small hose to the right of the filter cap that you can pull out, remove a plug from and drain off any water in the filter before you remove the filter and get your floor wet, so take a look for this before you remove the filter and get soaked.

In the event that this doesn't work and you just want to get your washing out, you will find that turning the machine off at the wall for 20 minutes will reset it and allow you to open the door (With the power still off). IF THERE IS WATER ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, then pull the machine out and (With some help, because it's heavy!) Tip the machine backwards at about a 45 degree angle, so that the water line falls below the door before you open it.

If the above doesn

SMU2046UC: waste water won't empty. Wash cycle works like it should but waste water remains in the bottom of the dishwasher. Sounds like pump is humming and there don't seem to be any clogs in the system??

Most likely a blocked pump. You should be able to access the pump from the base of the unit under your filters. Remove the cover and rotate the pump impeller to free blockage then start any prog to check if pump is working,if OK reassemble, if not replace pump

Water in the bottom drawer

Take a glass and empty as much as possible. Take out the racks and get a towel to soak up the rest.

Take the washer arm out and detach the filter plate collar. Also take out the drain filter and clean everything. You could take the washer rotor out and clean the rotor cavity.

Put everything back and start the dishwasher on fast cycle. If water is still not draining and provided the pump is running, then you have a blockage in the drain hose or the kitchen sink end. If you are using inskerator then make sure it not blocked.

My dishwasher makes my dishes taste like the detergent used. how can i fix it?

First, take a look in the bottom of the dishwasher, and make sure that the water has pumped out.
The next thing is to ask if you are using too much detergent. Some sage advice I was given some time back by an "Old Pro" was to use the least amount of detergent that I could, and still get the dishes clean. No full dispensers for me, nosireebob! Just a splash of detergent on the door, and it's off to the races....
With an empty dishwasher, pour 1 cup of white vinegar mixed in 1 quart of hot water all around and over the screen at the bottom of the washer. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then run a sanitary cycle. Before you start your dishwasher, run the hot water in the sink until it is HOT-HOT, then start the dishwasher. After the cycle runs, run one more cycle to flush the machine out. Then use less detergent, if you can.
Best regards, --W/D--

My dishwasher does not completely drain. It leaves about 3 inches of standing water. What could be causing this?

Without knowing the model of this GE ? dishwasher, it is very hard to be specific. Most DWs have a float/switch that sense when the dishwasher is filled and empty of water. They can fail.
If you can run a cycle without the dishwasher over flowing but it simply does not fully drain, I would pull the lower spray arm and the filter beneath that arm. Look closely for debris that could be blocking the pump. SOme dishwashers simply have a timer that controls each phase of the wash, including the drain cycle. If something is blocking the drain pump, an obstruction could cause this problem.
Good Luck, Please report back with what you find.

Dishwasher will not go into wash cycle.

On the LG LDF6810 dishwasher, the best you can do is remove the bottom spray arm and then the 10 phillips screws that hold the filter down.
Pull the filter out and clean it as best you can.
Inspect the sump area beneath where the filter was. Be careful of broken glass and remove all debris. Use a flashlight and look into every little spot down there. Reassemble the dishwasher and operate your DW.
If you still have problems, I recommend a service call. Check your manual to confirm but most LG dishwashers have a 1 year parts & labor plus a 2 year parts only. Have your proof of purchase ready.
