1 Answer

I have installed a new Honeywell CT87 non-mercury manual thermostat. It runs but the the furnace turns off the room temperature alway at or beloe the furnace setting so the furnace turns back on again and runs longer. It seems that the furnace is almost always running. Can I adjust it some way so the room temperature exceeds the furnace setting before it turns off like it use too.

Hi, these mechanical thermostats have what is called a heat antcipator on them. If you remove the cover you will see in increments or numbers such as 1.0, o.1, .2, .3, .4 or o.1, 2, 3, 4, . The stat and main gas valve work together and have to draw the same amount of amps to cycle the unit properly. This stat will have a copper arrow pointing at a number. A good place to start is to set it at .4. If the unit does not cycle right, set it at 1.0 and go from there until it cycles. Let it go through several full cycles during each time you adjust it until it is correct. These are good dependable stats as I have many on my service truck. If it doesn't take care of the problem, take it back and return it for one that is not faulty which happens often. Best of luck to you.
Ps, the small manual that comes with a new stat has that information on it, anticipator settings.

I install 2 new honeywell non programmable thermostats. The temp never reaches the setting temp. Always 5 to 8 degrees off. I can not get the furnace to heat the home over 70 degrees. Even set at 80. Any...

If the furnace is cycling on and off and not reaching temp there is a problem in the control circuit. If the thermostat is not satisfied the furnace should be running without shutting off in which case the capacity of the furnace is inadequate because of size or problems reducing the capacity. This could be caused by an increase in home size, poor air flow (dirty filter, loose fan belts, fan running slow, obstructions in the duct), dirty heat exchanger or burner, reduced gas flow, over temperature switch bad causing the burner to shut off early, or a few more technical reasons. You may do well to call a technician to troubleshoot this problem.

Honeywell programmable thermostat - was installed per instructions in manual and now the furnace runs non-stop unless I move switch to "off." The old (round mercury switch) thermostat was wired red t

If you are unsure about which wire goes where, that may be the source of your problem. The color coding can be confusing when changing from old to new. I pulled the instructions for my Honeywell CT3400A thermostat and found you can call Honeywell Consumer Services at 1-800-468-1502 M-F 7:30 am to 5 pm CT

Thermostat does not follow the setting

If the thermostat is a digital /programmable you may want to recheck program to see if it has changed or been changed. If thermostat is not digital then it is prbably warn out and need replaced.

Furnace blower not working how it should

first off buy yourself a honeywell stat, in my personal opinion lux stats are garbage, I have run into so many that are bad stats !!! but as far as your fan not shuting down, sounds to me like your fan center on your circuit board is bad and will not shut down the fan when needed, you will have to replace the circuit board, as the fan center is a part of the whole of the circuit board, hope that helps
