The simplest way is to turn the ON/Off switch on the plug-in power cord to OFF. Wait 12 to 15 minutes and turn it back ON. If yours is not so equipped (it's supposed to be, if you live in the UK), unplug the unit for 12 to 15 minutes and then plug back in. In either case, the controls on the heater should be in the OFF position, before attempting either solution.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

I have a dimplex heater with the log flames with remote. It starts works for six hours then stops. it will not restart for 18 hours with either remote or manual switch.

You didn't say whether the log flames remain on or whether the whole appliances dies. After a delay it presumably restarts.

If the whole appliance dies after six hours the safety cut-out has probably operated. While it is possible the safety device is faulty this is more likely to indicate the appliance is overheating, perhaps due to an insufficient flow of air through the appliance, perhaps caused by accumulated dust and fluff.

If the log flames remain illuminated it would indicate the thermostat might be faulty or the ambient temperature has become too high for the thermostat to operate.

18 hours does seem a long time for the unit or the room to cool but I can't offer an explanation for that other than the fault might be with the electronic control where a small fault might have strange or unusual symptoms.

I suggest the heater is first checked for inner cleanliness.

This dimplex still works well, but most of the time i have to hit the is in a 2001 modular home which we bought in wasn`t used till dec 2003.

If you are having to reset the heater more than what is considered normal. Dimplex recommends that your stop using the heater and unlug it. Call Dimplex Technical Service at 888-346-7539, 8am - 4:30am EST, Monday -Friday, for further assistance.

Heater has two settings for heat and only works on low setting most of the time.

The reason for this is the overheating sensor has cut in. It may just be malfunctioning or in fact it is overheating. This has been a reoccurring problem not just for Dimplex, but other manufacturers as well.
My best advice is contact Dimplex directly and talk with someone in their tech service dept. You can find their home page by doing a Google search for Dimplex's home page.

Why does my dimplex model bf8000st fan and heat turn off after 2 or 3 minutes? the flame lights keep working, just no fan or heat.

"Resetting the Temperature Cutoff Switch

This unit is equipped with a thermostat which controls the temperature
of the room by turning the heater on and off. The heater is protected
with a safety device to prevent overheating. Should the heater
overheat, an automatic cut out will turn the heater off and it will not
come back on without being reset. It can be reset by switching the
Main On/Off Switch to off and waiting five (5) minutes before switching
the unit back on."

I have two dimplex XLN storage heater, it was working last year but after someone put damp clothes on it, they are not working, could you help me please

It sounds as though it has tripped the internal cut-out - this can be manually reset quite easily by yourself. It would probably be best to ring Dimplex customer services on 0845 6005111 to get them to talk you through it step-by-step though.

My dimplex night storage heater has stopped working.

...not too sure of your model but all dimplex heaters to my knowledge have an 'overload' cut out built into the system. Ours is more up to date but still goes now and then, problem is you have to get into the electrics and click the reset button, normally near or on the thermostat it's self, could be a small white plastic button, or a piece metal sticking up that needs pressing down to reset...but please before attempting make sure that you TURN OFF THE ELECTRIC / REMOVE THE FUSE/ WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO CUT ANY CHANCE OF AN ELECTRIC SHOCK!!!...because I can and will get you if it can ;-)... if your not a competent electrician please get hold of one !... good luck.
