If you are getting this error then you have likely tried to put more trays under the printer than it can support electronically. The formatters can only address a certain number, which I believe is 2 extra trays.

Printer won't recognize optional trays 3, 4, 5

From the printer munu, go to paper tray settings & see if you have the option to change tray 3 & 4 paper size or type, if you can then this points to your problem being a drive issue, most likely you have not configured the driver correctly. From the driver, go to printer properties & printer preferences & check you have set try 3 & 4 has installed.

Insert Tray 3

I assume your printer cannot see that you installed tray 3.
If this is the case check swap over the trays into a different position and see what effect you get. If that works look very closely at the tray edges and see what differences you have.
Good Luck.

I have an error message 982

In most cases you will get this type of error when additional trays are installed.
If you have installed the 2000 - sheet option, try uninstall it from the printer. If this will clear the error then the small controller board on the sheet option needs replacement. Also, check the power cord of internal power card on the 2000 sheet option tray if its properly inserted.
If you don't have the option sheet installed, try removing the trays and verify which one caused the error. If you still get the same error, a replacement of the printers' controller board is needed.

Hi please can you help me to resolve my problem with a bizhub 35 it's get me a code number c1183

Hi elfethi,

This code c1183 is commonly caused by trays in your finisher which are not fully inserted into it's slot. It indicates an elevator motor Ascent/Descent Failure. You may want to try follow these steps that help you address the concern:

1. Check the output bin trays which are at the far left side of your machine.
2. Make sure that they are properly installed into the holders.
3. Then refresh your system by turning it off and on.
4.After doing these, the error should be gone.

If you're still getting the error after making sure that trays are properly installed then this means that the issue is already with the sensors or elevator motor. You will need to contact a local repair man.

Hope it helps.

I have a Canon ImageRUNNER 3235i black and white copier. I have the Cassette Feeding Unit-Y3 installed allowing two additional trays for legal and 11x17 paper sizes. The problem is that the copier doesn't...

This copier does not recognize the paper size automatically. Open the paper drawer and look at the right hand side you will see a dial, Turn that until the paper size you want aligns with the arrow. This sets the paper size.

Cobao

90% of the time when I see this code it means that one or more of the trays on your finisher are not installed all the way into the finisher. Look on the far left side of the machine where the trays are that catch the papers as they come out. Make sure these trays are fully into the slots they sit in. There are little switches that are actuated by the trays as the elevator goes up and down. If the tray misses a switch it will throw the COBAO code. Basically the code means elevator motor lift or descent failure. Turn the machines main power switch off then back on to reset and see if the code goes away. You should see the finisher go up and down. If it never moves then you have a problem with the elevator motor or the detection system. But most all of the time it is just one of the trays not sitting fully into it's slot.

Canon imageRunner C5180i Color Copier will not allow multi tray

XP? or similar then go to printers list and double click on the Canon 5180. Then click "Printer" then "Properties" then "Accessories"
Make sure on the options listing that the tray 3 and tray 4 are "installed" or their boxes are checked. This is the only thing I have ever seen cause you not to be able to access certain trays or other options.

Can't Print

Firstly, I have to ask......the paper is installed, and tray set correctly? Does it read the proper size on the display of the copier?
Ok....next, do you have the optional paper trays installed (3 & 4)?
Is that where the 11 x 17 paper is? Then you probably did not add the accessories when you installed the driver and when printing that paper is unavailable.
right click your printer icon, click "properties", then i think it's under the "accessories" , or "options" button....select the optional trays, and anything else you may have. click 'ok' ...should work.

Got problem with aficio250

Another thing that can happen to cause a jam when you are printing on there is to make sure that the paper size if correct and matches the trays you are printing to. That condition will happen if the printer tries to print a legal size page and you only have letter paper installed in the trays.

Check your settings in the printer control panel to make sure that the trays match and are correct.

Make sure that the green paper setting knobs match the correct tray size as well.
