SOURCE: 2 red lights. Fans don't help

you have to take the x-box apart(youtube) and then take off the heat sinks clean the thermal paste apply new thermal paste remount heat sinks with type 5mm screws and m-5 washers, nylon not necessary. after remounting the heatsinks you have to overheat the system and then let it cool. the overheating process will sometimes require a heat gun since the console will not stay on long enough to get it heated properly. you sometimes don't have to do this if reapplying new thermal paste has done the trick.

Kinect is acting up and not recognizing my voice or commands

Don't worry, you're not the only one with this problem. A common solution is to dump your memory on the Kinect (which was probably corrupt accidentally by the update). In order to do this, you need to go into the settings on your kinect and power it off, then shut down the console. After this, you must unplug the Xbox from it's power source and wait about 30 seconds for the internal power to shut off. After that, it should work perfectly, otherwise your kinect may be faulty and subject to repair.

My kinect does not turn on the light stays on red

Try unplugging the kinect and then the x-box power for a few minutes. Then plug the kinect in before reconnecting the power. If that doesn't work you may have to contact microsoft support, there should be a phone # on the package.

Xbox kinnect keeps shuting down, less than 5 minutes into loading and/or playing the game.

  • Make sure your kinect is correctly plugged in to your Xbox
  • Make sure your Xbox power cord is plugged in
If problems continue it is because there is a problem with the kinect sensor. Having the kinect automatically turn off has become a common problem for many users. Try returning your sensor to the place of purchase and get a new one. Seeing as it is a known problem the store will likely understand and give you a full refund.

Roomba cuts off after a minute or so.

If you have a 400 series Roomba, try removing the battery, then holding down the power button for ten seconds, then recharging the unit before you run it again.

If you have a 500 series Roomba, don't take out the battery-- just press and hold the "spot" and "dock" buttons for about fifteen seconds. The Roomba will play a tune, and you can then charge it and try running it again later.

Blinking error codes?

Unplug the machine for 30 minutes , plug it back it, start it for 1 minute, unplug it again for 5 minutes then plug back it and it should work. If not then write back with the error codes so further diagnostics can be done

The Kenwood VR517 home theater system wants to just turn itself off at about 5 minutes of being on. this just started happening this week.

If this unit stays on for 5 minutes, and it appears to be playing normal, a bad speaker could be the cause unless you are using speakers that are not compatible with this unit.

The specs on this unit are 100 watts per channel and require 8 ohm speakers. if you are using speakers that are 6 ohms or 4 ohms, you will overheat the unit quickly and it will shut down. It is not designed to use anything less than 4 ohm speakers.

If you are using the speakers this unit came with, or you know that the speakers are 8 ohms (it should be listed on the speaker where the wires plug in), go ahead to the next step.

The first thing to do is to unplug one speaker, it does not matter which one, just pick one to unplug from the back of the receiver or right at the speaker. If you unplug one right at the speaker, make sure that the speaker wires do not touch together or touch anything else, they must be insulated from anything metal or conductive.

After one speaker is unplugged, turn the unit back on and let it play normally the way it was when it shut down after five minutes. If the unit continues to play for a long time, at least 30 minutes or more and does not shut down on its own, you have just found the culprit causing your problem. Some speakers may sound like they are OK, but still can cause a problem.

If the unit shuts down again after five minutes like before, go ahead and plug that speaker back in and do the same thing with one of the other speakers.

Continue this process until you have isolated one speaker as being the problem.

If you go thru the entire process and it still shuts down, you may have an internal amplifier problem. It can be something as simple as some heat stressed solder joints that need to be reflowed, or it could be a bad amp IC. This unit uses 3 different amp IC's and it could be any one of them or a component in the amp circuit. Sometimes it can even be a power supply failure. In any case, if the above steps do not work, you need to take it in and be serviced. There are no other end user options to perform.

I hope this helps with your problem, if you need more help just ask.

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
