Replacement of the turntable motor should be carried out by a qualified appliance repair service.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

But here is a basic method if you are mechanically minded and have electrical safety knowledge.

I am assuming the plastic coupler is not split or broken and causing the problem.

The motor assembly is fixed to the base of the oven usually with two screws and access is obtained usually by removing the inspection plate directly beneath the motor. It is usually a plug in synchronous motor that revolves at a few revs per minute but the plastic cogs in the motors gear box fail and the motor assembly must be replaced. They are fairly inexpensive and obtainable usually from a domestic appliance repair shop.
If you feel confident, disconnect it from the mains power, remove anything in the cavity and turn it upside down if it is a tabletop model, a little more complicated if it is built in!
Remove the inspection plate, sometimes it must be cut out with sharp cutters, and disconnect the motor. Remove the motor and go and get a new one. Fit the new motor and fit the inspection cover back on the base by turning it to fit and using an extra screw fix it then put the microwave back in its position. Plug it back in, with the turntable and plate. Put a cup of water on the plate inside of the oven and heat for 20 seconds to check the plate goes round.
Hope this helps.

The Turntable motor is defective and must be replaced with a new one, this is the only way to fix the issue.

The problem is solved, the motor is not defective. The 3 leaf rosette shaped platcic adapter that fits on the motor d-shaded motor shaft and partially suspends and turns the glass plate, had worn down. The effect was that when the roller ring and glass plate were placed on top the adapter, there was enough wear on the inside of the adapter that it no longer was d-shaped like the motor shaft. The motor was turning, sight unseen, inside the now rounded adapter. To add the the confusion when the glass plate was removed, and the adapter was pressed firmly down on the motor shaft, it would engage with the little bit of d-shaped plastic remaining and could be see to rotate smoothly. The replacement adapter is about $3.50, so not a big expense. The synchronous motor has surprisingly good torque ... no match for the old, possibly crystallized, plastic adapter.

Microwave runs as soon as the door is shut..

When you microwave cook, if the inside light comes on but the turntable does not, then you almost certainly have a bad turntable motor.

On this model, the inside light and turntable are run by the same relay on the control board.

We have the service / repair manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here for free download to help you.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number (just the JKP86 part) from the tag on the oven here.

Hi, I had the same problem with my Emerson microwave. As I rent out the house, and the turntable stopped working while I was away, my rental agent bought another Emerson microwave. On my return I tried using the new (brown) plastic turntable on the old microwave, and found it worked perfectly. Maybe it would be possible for you to order a replacement turntable part. Hope this helps. Good luck, Rosalind

Clicking sound sporadically

That particular skillet is just too heavy a load for the turntable system to handle.

I would suggest a lighter skillet or a different container, otherwise, the motor or shaft or both will be damaged.

It is of course perfectly okay to put metal in a microwave (after all, that's what they're made of!) but you just have to do it only according to the instructions in the owner's manual.

And as you know, metal in convection mode poses no problem at all.

You just need to use a lighter or different container.

SANYO EM-D9550. Turntable turns when off but not when cooking.

That's sounds pretty strange!

Since I don't have any service data on Sanyos, I'd have to speculate.

I would guess that one scenario that could cause it would be if the turntable were turned off via the control panel, but there was a switch or switch mount problem.

I would refer you to their support people:
