The warranty will cover the battery chamber, I would take it back to the store and let them deal with it, since they sold you the product in the first place and let them know you are not happy with the purchase and that you expect them to take care of the problem. I find you get more prompt service than if they try and say it is the manufactures problem, don't let them sway you. When you call the manager out, the last thing they want is bad publicity especially when you have prospective buyers going shopping, I think you will do far better this way under the circumstances.
