Where can I find operating instructions for my printer?

-Sorry to hear that you lost your installer CD for your printer. But you don't have to worry. Your laptop that has Windows 7 on it won't need an installer anymore. Its because of the wide drivers database that Windows 7 has. You could refer to the link below to check that your printer is actually compatible with Windows 7:

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Put Z601 (all z60X have same driver) in the model, chose Vista operative system and download the file called cjrZ500-Z600EN.exe

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file, open the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note : to open the file do not use double click, but click the right button of mouse on the installer file and chose "Run as Administrator"

check the installation instructions of the pc. the problem might be on the printer, since many printers operates on selection OSs such as windows or macintosh. the tip would be, since you cannot use the printer, go back to the retailer and exchange it for another printer that is compatible with linux.

nonetheless, before doing this, make sure that you have followed the instructions on installing the driver's software of the printer.

may I ask what is the brand of the printer? so far, hp printers or fujitsu printers do not entail much problem on linuz operated PCs.
