Question about Nikon Coolpix L1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I dropped my Nikon Coolpix L1 camera and cracked the battery door. Now whenever I take a picture, I have to hold the battery door manually so it will stay shut and recognize the power of the battery. I'm wondering if it is worth getting repaired or am I better off to go out and buy a newer model? I have no complaints with the quality of the camera.

So other than the broken battery door (very common) it works just fine?

Well you could go and spend a fortune on another camera. Or you might decide that a few cents worth of sticky tape to hold the door closed is far better value.

I've fixed the same fault on similar Nikon models before by fashioning replacements for the broken plastic tab/loops using shaped short lengths of paper clip wire glued into carefully filed channels using epoxy resin (the designs vary, but Nikon keep making them of plastics with all the structural integrity of cheese!). Doing it that way makes a far neater and original-looking job of it and restores normal functionality.

Tell me how to import pictures to my mac from nikon cool pic

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Nikon coolpix l1 download port trashed

The connector can be replaced. In most of these cameras it is part of an assembly.

From your description, it sounds like the port connector is broken!

You should send the camera to Nikon to replace the part.

Coolpix L1 Lens error.

Seem like the AF system doesn't reach the home position, therefore the zoom is not closing. Or may be has been smashed and the zoom block is jammed.

Anyway you need professional help. Problem will be solved after a major srip down.
