I have a Toshiba Regza 32lv 703G lcd tv. I switched it on and I have lost my colour. It only displays in black and white although the menu screen is till displaying in colour. Kindly advise. Thanks!

It is pretty much junk, sorry to say it but your picture tube went out and it is cheaper to buy a new t.v. My grandpa use to fix them for us for free but he passed:( If you call some where see how much they would charge for a picture tube, I bet it's expensive???

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

We have a panasonic colour television- The picture is very dull. we can't see the faces clearly and the title word also not readable.

The picture tube in the set has lost the capacity to produce a decent display, over the years the picture tube builds up a lot of crud in the guns and blocks the emission that controls the quality of the picture. There is an instrument that will burn away the coating, so more emission material is exposed, but this approach is very short lived and back to where you were if not worse. In order to fix this you will need a new picture tube and the cost would prohibited. I suggest replacing it in favor of a new one.

My color is washed out and dim and the colors are wrong . Toshiba 65h83 projection hd tv

I don't know your model, therefore I will tell you genericaly what the problem may be.

There are many things that can cause this type of fault. The response of the video amplifier stages would have to be checked right up through to the output that drives the projection. it is also possible that there is a fault with the colour demodulator. If the set uses projection tubes it is possible that the tubes are weak, or there is dirt in the optics. Colour demodulation problems can also cause the colours to not be correct. Many models using tubes have an optical transparent cooling fluid in front of the tubes. This fluid may have to be changed.

Loss of colour

With the set being 12 years old, I'm sure the picture tube is near the end of its useful life. You probably have a defective semiconductor, either an IC or transistor that has gone up giving you no color, but with the green picture, it is not likely worth repair.
