Texas Instruments TI-85 Display Problem

I jsut purchased a TI-85 and the display is missing two columns of characters on the left side. When I turn it on and press a number repeatedly the first two are not visible but the third one is. Is there a way of adjusting the display? A way of centering the display so all columns are shown?

You need a good screwdricer and skilled hands and an experienced friend for directions. Remove the batteries and the small backup battery. Remove the two other screws on the outside. Open it up and remove the metal shield. There should be a ribbon cable connected to the screen. IF YOU SCREW THIS UP, YOU SCREW UP THE CALCULATOR. take the screwdrivr and gently lift up on the top of the connecter on the board. push the cable in with very little force. it may snap into place. Push down on the cable fastener and it should hold the cable in place. Put the shield back on, replace the batteries, screw in the screws, and try to turn it on. You did something terribly wrong and need to reseat it again. if it works, well done! (clap clap)

TI-85 Calculator's LCD Display if faded

I did a little research on the Texas Instruments Website  and here is the answer.
Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the [2nd] key followed by pressing and releasing the up arrow; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the down arrow.
