SOURCE: I have acer travelmate 240-
You need the specific firmware driver for the dvd-drive.
Go to My Computer and right click on the disk drive icon, then click properties, then click the Hardware tab. Look in the list for the model type/number and then enter that (exactly) into Google, followed by the word 'driver'.
You should be able to find a link somewhere to download the driver. Once you have downloaded the driver, you may have to unzip it into a folder. Then go to Control Panel, and System, and Device Manager.
Find the disk drive listing and click on it, it will drop down a listing for the generic disk driver that is currently being used. Double click on that and click the Driver tab. Click update driver, and choose the option for letting you find the driver on your machine. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped it to and double click on the driver. Press enter and it will install. Maybe need to reboot.
Good luck Anir

SOURCE: wireless connection
Go to Device Manager,(Just right click on my computer an select properties, device manager) find your wireless card, right-click select 'Properties'(or double-click on the device). Go to 'Advanced'. Find Radio ON/OFF option from the list. This controls the wireless button. If it's OFF the button is disabled and the antenna is OFF so switch it to ON.
Next, Go into control panel , network connections, right click on the wireless network icon and if the option "Enable" is present at the top, click it. If it says "Disable" just leave it. Right click on it again and choose properties and then go to the advanced tab and tick the box that says "Let windows manage my wireless connections" or similar, back in the general tab make sure the box is ticked that says "show icon in notification are when connected" or similar.
Now right click on the wireless network icon down by the clock (the icon of a single pc) and "show available networks", press f5 to do a refresh, Click on your wireless network and click connect.(Make sure you have also turned the wireless on via the button above the keyboard.(I believe on yours it will be blue when on) Please rate this a fixya
