When you fill up the coolent, make sure there is no air when you put on the cap. Let excess liquid flow out when you turn the cap to lock it.

My car is running hot do u think i need to change the motor?

buy a radiator flush kit, some prestone flush additive, and even maybe a new thermostat, and a simple haynes manual for your auto. The manual will tell you where and how to change the thermostat, and how to drain the radiator, and how much radiator fluid you will need. The flush kit will instruct you where to put the flush fitting.
Remove the thermo, flush the motor, install new thermo and gasket. Add radiator fluid, done. This should solve your over heating probs. Don't let it over heat! You can cause major probs then.

You could always take it to a shop and pay the $200 to do it for you. My way would cost you less than $50.

please click yes if this helps. thanks

2002 pt cruiser overheating was told i need a new raditor and thermostat for 1 grand sounds fishy

Flush rad & change coolant & thermostat. Check operation of rad fan, & make sure it is coming on when engine reaches normal operating temperature. Be sure to bleed air out good when refilling rad/cooling system. Start engine & turn heater on when refilling & let rad fan come on & off at least 2 or 3 times before putting cap back on rad, and refill rad as needed as you do this. then fill return bottle to proper level & see what happens.

Likely you set that code by removing the can usually clear it by disconnecting the battery or if you keep driving it I believe eventually it will go out when the computer cycles through and finds it is now OK.
