Toshiba BDX1100 Player Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 11, 2011

Hi there!! I recently purchased a Toshiba blu ray player, model bdx1100ky, not realising that it is not region free. I have many region 1 and 2 dvds and I now live in region 4. this blu ray player will only play region 4. I have found a section in the menu asking for a four digit password. Without that password it looks like I cannot access anything to change the region. I found a factory code (8520) and a box appeared, but even in there it would not let me do anything,it just kept asking for the four digit password. Is there a way to make this player region free or am I stuck with it?? The one help on here with a link only leads to a site where you can buy region free players, so this does not help if, like me, you have already purchased the player. please help me if you can!! kind regards, Elizabeth. :(

To make the Bluray section of the player region free one has to modify the internal hardware , for which some additional electronics has to be inserted in your machine ( approx: cost $ 100 ) by a professional who would charge you an additional fee. Liz my advice to you is for 100$ you can buy region A bluray players from the internet !!!. Now I don't know if in your part of the world they would deliver it. Or ask somebody to get it for you.

I don't think the question was answered. I understood that the question refers to Elizabeth's DVD collection (and the reference to R4 which is a DVD region). Your answer was Bluray related which is different.

Model# SD-V296-K-TU Is this DVD player region free?

I do not believe this is a region-free DVD player. I believe it only plays Region 1 or All commercial discs. The manual for the SD-V296 is available from Toshiba here: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/manuals/userguides/su2810535/SD-V296_OM.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I recently purchased a DVD which is Region 1, we are Region 4 and the DVD will not play on our AWA Combination DVD/VCR. Any suggestions?

Search google for region-free/multi-region codes codes as well as your DVD Player Model

e.i.: AWA DVDS203 region free codes
e.i.: AWA DVDS203 unlock region

Replace "DVDS203" with whatever model your DVD Player is.

Do not pay for codes! The unlock method may be simply typing some stuff into your remote or having to download firmware upgrades, burn to CD and play on the DVD Player.

Warning: Unlocking DVD Players MAY void some warranties!!

Want to unlock Philips DVD player (DVP320)

Did you follow these instructions exactly? If you pressed 9990, as you mentioned, it will not work. You need to press 99990. Do you see region "0" on the display?

start the player without any DVD in it.
open the lid.
while the lid is open press 9,9,9,9,0
you should see region 0 displayed.
close the lid.

Your DVD player is now region free.

note:
replace 0 with 1 to 6 at to set the wanted region number if needed.
