Yes, it's possible - all you will have to do is to remove the top cover of the player (4 screws on the sides and several on the back then tilt upwards and pull) then the top bracket that holds the tray and the disk down(4 screws). For that all you will need is a Philips screwdriver.
BTW the model you said is, as its name implies, for a RM - remote so i can't be more precise on the locations of the screws since i don't know the exact model of your shelf unit.
