Hi, welcome to FixYa.

Windows XP is an old operating system. Though it still able to install to some new hardware, it requires new driver for the hardware as well. I suggest you to try Windows 7, it's more compatible.

If you don't, there's a hard way to do it. It too long to describe in here so I'll make it short. If you need the detail, try to search on the internet.

1. Make sure you have downloaded and installed nLite.
2. Search for "Windows XP SATA driver" on the internet, download it.
3. Find some articles about integrating WIndows XP SATA driver into Windows XP installation using nLite.
4. use the nLite to integrate the SATA driver and then burn the ISO into CD-R.

I hope this will helpful.

I have a new G31-M7-TE version 6.7 Biostar MB. When I try to install XP it always errors out at some point where it is initializing the drivers so it never install XP. I have an erlier version of this...

I'll bet the problem lies with the hard disk drive. Suggest you download the manufacture's hdd setup software. Example, for a Seagate and Maxtor drive download; SeaTools for DOS. Here is the link; http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools
Every manufacture has their own setup software that runs in a DOS like environment. Download either the bootable floppy disk software or bootable CD software. Run the software on you're drive and than install windows. Windows XP should install with out a hitch and load.

Activation code problem

Hello there,

Fixya does not provide "free" license or activation keys for software applications. I would highly advice that you purchase your own genuine license key because by acquiring and using those "free" keys would get you into software piracy and that is illegal. Microsoft can detect your IP address that will further get you into trouble. Besides, if you have your own genuine key, you are entitled to all Windows Updates that you can benefit highly from.

I am unable to install sm bus driver on my ASUS P5KPL-CM on win xp SP 2

Go to this Asus Global web site;
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=6nnVb6RBxd7PhGmt&content=download

Click the drop-down button & click on your operating system.
The SM-Bus controller is installed with-in the chip-set driver.
Intel(R) P45/ICH10R Chipset Software Installation Utility WHQL V9.0.0.1009 for Windows XP/Vista & 64bit XP/Vista.
Normally this is installed after a fresh install of windows. However if windows is giving you trouble you can re-install the chip-set driver utility. Than check windows for any updates.

Good luck!

Unable to run Auto Installation Support CD, or Boot System

Is the new motherboard the same model with the one you have replaced. If so, there should have no problem on it. If it is different model, then you have to reconfigure the software installed such as the driver. your new motherboard surely has the CD included where the necessary software should be installed. But, the problem is that you cannot get to the WindowsXP screen..

Windows XP CD is also bootable.. Now in the bios setup there is a portion there that tells about on how to boot whether in drive a, hard disk or cd. Choose CD and inser the bootable Windows XP. In that way you should be able to get to the XP screen. Of course, you have to restart it to make the necessary changes but before that make sure you have saved the changes youve made to the bios setup.

Now if youre able to go to the main screen, uninstall software that are with your old motherboard and install the new one.

Hope to solve your problem.
