In bios setup select your boot device as your computer's CD-ROM or main hard drive.
Then save this settings and restart your computer again.

After installing a new hard drive in my desktop computer, it still does not work. It says no boot device available. Sata's 0 & 1 installed but 2 & 3 uninstalled


No boot device available means the boot device hard drive on your system has no bootable operating system installed on it, or it is faulty. In the BIOS setup program, does the computer recognize the hard drive you installed, and is it included in the boot device list? If you installed a new hard drive because of a failure of the C: drive, the new hard disk does not come with an operating system. You have to install that on the new hard drive from the manufacturer's system restore disks. SATA channels 1 and 2 are just the connections on the motherboard for devices, and usually have a hard drive on one connection and a cd rom drive on the other. Giving the model and manufacturer of your computer might provide more clues.

You might want to boot from a USB device, like an external hard drive or a flash drive, for many different reasons.
When you boot from a USB device, what you're actually doing is running your computer with the operating system that's installed on the USB device. When you start your computer normally, you're running with the operating system installed on your hard drive - Windows, Linux, etc.

How To Boot From a USB Device
Change the BIOS boot order so the USB device option is listed first. The BIOS is rarely setup this way by default.
If the USB boot option is not first in the boot order, your PC will start "normally" (i.e. boot from your hard drive) without even looking at any boot information that might be on your USB device.
Tip: The BIOS on most computers list the USB boot option as USB or Removable Devices but some confusingly list it as a Hard Drive option, so be sure to dig around if you're having trouble finding the right one to choose.
Note: After setting your USB device as the first boot device, your computer will check it for boot information each time your PC starts. Leaving your computer configured this way shouldn't cause problems unless you plan on leaving the bootable USB device attached all the time.
Attach the USB device to your computer via any available USB port.
Note: Creating a bootable flash drive or configuring an external hard drive as bootable is a task in itself. Chances are you made it to my instructions here because you know whatever USB device you have should be bootable after properly configuring BIOS.

  • Restart your computer.
  • Watch for a Press any key to boot from external device... message.
  • On some bootable devices, you may be prompted with a message to press a key before the computer will boot to the flash drive or other USB device.
  • If you do nothing, your computer will check for boot information on the next boot device in the list in BIOS (see Step 1) which will probably be your hard drive.
Note: Most of the time when trying to boot to a USB device there is no key-press prompt. The USB boot process usually starts immediately.

  • Your computer should now boot from the flash drive or USB based external hard drive.

How can I a boot disk system failure on my Asus without a system disc?


First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Your computer cannot find a boot-able storage device, i.e. hard disk drive, to boot from. Either your hard disk drive is defective or the OS (operating system software) is corrupted and needs to be re-installed.

Well, my computer doesn't start up and the screen says "Media test failure, check cable", "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I don't know what the cable is and...


The uProcessor can't find a bootable device and presumes your hard drive is no longer plugged in. Standard error message.
Check your BIOS for the hard drive listing. If it is listed there is no problem with the cables.
You will need your restore disc to boot from and repair your boot sector on the drive.

If the sound you are referring to is a clicking sound, then it is a hard drive failure.
Your computer is trying to boot up the operating system from the hard drive, but when it fails to access the hard drive, it tries to boot up from other devices configured on the BIOS. Apparently, your next choice for booting the operating system is set to the LAN card. Hence, you get the message "PXE-E61 Media test failure", which means that the computer tried to boot up the operating system over the network but it found out that your network cable is not connected to your computer's network interface card.

My Hp probook 4510s cannot boot it gives error of PXE failure after startup screen it says media cable check error.


Your computer tries to "boot" from several devices:

* floppy disk
* CD/DVD drive
* internal disk-drive
* USB memory-stick
* over the network, if it can find a "boot-server" on the local network.

So, the 'PXE failure' and 'check cable' errors occur either because there is no cable connected to the network-port, or because there is no "boot-server" on your network.

Enter BIOS setup, and check the "order" of possible boot-devices,
to ensure that the "network-boot" device is set to the _lowest_ priority.

What this could mean is that the computer *TRIED* to boot from the disk-drive, but *FAILED* to do so, i.e., you have a problem with the disk-drive in your computer. Ouch!

I tried to hit F1, then i get that message again. I hit F2, then it i didn't see the problem.
