When you have replaced the battery the previous code got reseted or it got corrupted - despite the manufacturer claims that this doesn't happens. You will need to program it again.
Since you didn't mentioned the exact model all i can give you are the generic Sentry instructions. You need first to erase the bad one: press the Prog key and enter the factory code twice then wait a minute. After that press Prog again and enter a new code , wait a minute and test it. The exact procedure is in the manual. If you no longer have it you can get it from here

If this fails it means that there is a hardware defect in the electronics of the safe - you will have to contact the Sentry service center, they are the only ones authorized to work on it.

Bought this gun safe in 1998. Has a combination lock. Have the combination but it will not open safe.

If it is an electronic combination lock the batteries are probably discharged. In that case there should be a key and somewhere to put it in order to open the cabinet and replace the batteries. Electronic locks usually beep when the numbers are entered followed by a different beep if successful.
If it is beeping nice and loudly it would suggest you have the wrong code.

If it is a mechanical lock it must either be the wrong combination or the lock is broken and you will need specialist help, perhaps from the manufacturer.

How do i onreset numbers on gun safe?

Make sure you do this with the door OPEN.
Make sure that you have a fresh battery in place.

Hold down the 0 until you hear a beep twice
Make sure that you have written down your new combination before you enter it, then enter your old combination. Wait for the two beeps.

Now enter your new combination and wait for the two beeps.
Enter your new combination again, waiting for the two beeps.
Wait for 15 seconds, then enter your combination; you should now be able to turn the handle which will show that your new combination worked.

Manual for stramm digital electronic safe manual

The Stramm safe we have is a small one that we use to store keys for our drivers. To change the combination, open the safe with the current combination. Sorry, can't help you if you don't know that. Inside the door is a plastic panel covering the batteries. Pinch the plastic catch at the top and open the panel. There is a small red button which you can press to change the combination. When you press it, you will hear a double beep. Enter your desired new combination. The trick is that the last digit must be either an "A" or a "B" which signals the end of your combination. For example, if you want your new combination to be 123456, you can't do that. The closest you can come is 123456A or 123456B. Hope this helps. Steve, Mbeya, Tanzania
