Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

When powering Samsung TFT-LCD it turns on w/dots or lines in the screen that are only removed if restarted (usually multiple restarts are necessary). Also, on occassion, the TV will do a series of beeps while powering on; sometimes taking up to 5 minutes to get a picture on the screen. Then the picture is not good requiring a restart anyway!

I f the TV needs warm up to get working right; don't turn off for a few days and see if moisture on the circuits can be dried off. Or keep it on standby to prevent build up of any condensation on the circuits.

Hello,

The most common cause of that type problem is a failure of the filter capacitors on the power supply board. There are 7 capacitors that filter the output voltages from the board and when they start to die the power supply board can not start correctly. When you let the unit sit for a while they can finally build up a charge and allow the board to power up the monitor. The worst they get the longer the time will take to get a picture until one day - No picture at all. The board is easy to repair, you will get need to remove and replace the bad capacitors on the board. Here is a link to information showing where the capacitors are located on the board and the values needed to replace them.

1. the motherboard might be bad and you will need to replace it. 2. or The power supply is bad
Chances are if its making clicks the power supply is bad and you will need to replace it. Which makes sense because constantly powering the tv on and off will damage the power supply or possibly short out your motherboard. These things usually cost about 200 bucks to fix at a local tv repair store.

You may have failing TFT (Thin Film Transistor, each pixel on the screen is driven by one transistor, so there are 100 of thousands on the LCD panel
) or bad connection or failing T-CON board.
See pictures here:

It will usually get worst with more lines as time goes by. New panel will be needed.

Restart the PC and get into SAFE MODE. Hit and release F8 many times right after turning on PC. If it works, then go into your video setting and either change the settings or remove the video driver. Restart the PC and you'll get 800X600 screen, then reinstall the video drivers. IF it won't go above 800X600, screen internals are bad, LCD toasted. I've seen that happen with LCDs and older monitors.

This sounds like a video problem with the COMPUTER.....try the monitor on another computer. Usually, if you can see the monitor test pattern the monitor is ok.

Funny monitor problem

If I were you I would invest in a new video display card. Sounds your card is intermittant, because the chances of a tube type display and a TFT display having the same problem is slim to none. LOL Good Luck Please dont forget to rate this thread
