Question about Cameras

2 Answers

On a JVC GZ-MG37U I can record for a while - sometimes 20 seconds, sometimes 4-5 minutes, once even 23 minutes, but then it stops and gives me a bad video playback file message. I have to repair the file and I don't lose the video, but I'm worried about recording an important event and having the recording stop in the middle. How to I make it stop doing this?

The problem is happening with 2 different brand new charged batteries.

the camera is about 4 years old
    I haven't used it a lot
    it has never been repaired
the original 707 battery wouldn't take a charge, so I just bought two 714 batteries - the charger thinks both of them are fine, and they both run the camera well
the error happens with both batteries
I just thought - I haven't checked if I get the error running on the AC adapter

I tried running it on the AC adapter - same result. I also cleaned the battery contacts - no change. So, your recommendation is that the power connection to the circuit board is faulty and I need to take it to a JVC service center?

Hi,

Can you give me some more details about your camera such as how old is it and in recent times it had repaired or any part has been replaced? Because your symptoms indicate that camera itself is faulty. The sensor inside the camera tends to be defective.

Waiting for your reply to direct you in right direction to solve your problem.

Clean the metal contacts of the battery holder properly with dry cloth and then insert the new battery and check you are getting Same error message. If you still face the problem, then inner conductivity is lost between battery terminals and circuit board. Then check with AC adapter.

Let me know the outcomes, so that I can guide you further accordingly.

This could be caused by a few things. First of all, make sure the battery contacts on both the battery and inside the recorder are clean (use a qtip and alcohol or a pencil eraser). Next, make sure the batteries are fully charged.
Aside from that, the unit will have to be serviced to fix the problem, which could be difficult to find, since it occurs spradically. Contact JVC to find an authorized service center near you:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

The record button and telephoto slide switch are no longer functioning on my JVC Everio GZ-MG37U. Would that be a hardware or software issue?

This is most likely a failure in the contol switch assembly and will require disassembly to repair.

This can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired by a qualified service technician.

Camera Temperature

mine is an everio gz-mg37u and i get that same bulls*** on the screen at every power up. First I tried waiting a while then switching all the switches between camera and video mode, record and watch mode, etc. and one time it worked and the message went away. Haven't been able to do that since.

Now what I do is turn it on, wrap it in a blanket, leave it about 10 minutes, then turn the power off and on again. Works fine for me, and if I turn it off and then turn it back on within a few minutes before it cools down, it works fine. There has to be a messed up sensor in this thing that I can desolder somewhere......
